[Question #4765] High, Negative HSV Value

Hi, I have had 5 full STI tests since October 2016. Each one has shown a HSV 1/2 IGG Type Specific AB result of <0.90 (Explanation says Value of <0.90 = Negative, 0.90-1.10 = Equivocal, etc.) Explanation further states if the results are negative or equivocal, test should be repeated in 4-6 weeks. I can't tell if these tests just don't distinguish anything other than "less than 0.90" like, can I get a result of 0.40 ? or is my <0.90 close enough to equivocal to be concerning? Or mean something else like I'm a carrier, but will never show any symptoms? My mom had visual lip herpes, my husband does as well, but I've never had a sore on my lips or genitals and I have no signs of herpes. Just an active social life, with condoms for intercourse, but not oral. I am a female of 46. THANK YOU!!!

Many labs now simply report negatives as negative without an index value. That's OK. No worries. But here's the deal - the Igg test misses 30% of HSV 1 infections compared to the western blot (better for HSV 2 but the regular condom use for intercourse should reduce that risk greatly). How do you feel about that?
