[Question #4873] Herpes treatment for new infection

I have genital herpes for last 13 yrs, while my wife is herpes free. 4 nights back, I had sex with my wife. In morning I found an out break on my penis. I recall a little itching on my penis before sex. So I suspect I might have transferred virus to her. Will it help in reducing risk if I start giving her anti viral like valtrex right now. Or should I wait n see if there are any symptoms. Note: my wife is breast feeding our son.

Sorry, just saw this. But I don't think it would have helped unless she did it immediately after sex and even then we don't know if it would be helpful.
Do you just think she doesn't have herpes or has she actually tested negative for herpes antibody? About 80% of those infected do not know they are infected.
