[Question #4883] HSV Symptoms

Hello,
I hope your answers can provide me some sort of relief. On 1/12/19 i made a horrible decision and I received unprotected oral sex from a sex worker. Also some of her saliva did end up on my tongue due to mastrubating myself while her saliva was on my penis. On Monday 1/14 I saw a red bump at the bottom on my penis. I went to a dermatologist and he said did not look like herpes and should go away soon. By 1/20, the bump was gone. On Wednesday 1/16 I started to feel slight pain and burning on different parts of my penis and pain inside my shaft and in my testicles and some slight burning on my groin. I went to planned parenthood on the 1/17 and the doctor said if no sores or lesions appear in the next few days I will be fine. The slight pain continued and I went to a doc on 1/19 and said sores should have appeared , he prescribed me doxycycline just in case. The symptoms are still happening on and off as off today and even though a urologist and another 2 visits to planned parenthood assured me I’m ok, my paranoia, quilt and anxiety are destroying me and I don’t know if that has anything to do with my symptoms. I did have a sore throat from about 1/19 to 1/20 and on those days I did feel very fatigued, no fever present. I took a herpes igg blood test on 1/23 and came back neg(I know it’s early). The urologist I saw thinks I’m crazy and said the risk for transmittal is low but the stress and fear of transmitting something to my fiancé is causing me to lose sleep and weight. My fiancé and I have not had sex since. All other tests came back negative (spy, chlymadia , urine culture). The planned parenthood doc did a swab on the area, awaiting those results. I did notice a tiny white spot(not a bump) in an area on my penis head but the urologist and pp doc said it wasn’t  anything. Please help, I don’t know if these symptoms are in my head .

Irrational?  I'm not sure what you mean.
So the type of herpes that people sometimes get after receiving oral sex (very unusual with a single episode) is HSV 1.  Have you ever in your entire life had a cold sore on your lip or in your nose?  If yes,  then you already have HSV 1 and would be extremely unlikely to acquire this at a new location on your body (even if your antibody test is negative as the IgG test misses 30% of HSV 1 compared to the gold standard western blot..
If you have not had any sores by now, I think you will not get them.  You are two weeks out now.
I'm sorry your negative feelings about this are causing you to lose weight and sleep but honestly, I think it is likely that you are in the clear two weeks out.  If you can't stand the uncertainty, you could get a herpes western blot but you can't do it with any great accuracy until about 12 weeks out from the encounter.  And if you were positive then, it would not tell you if the infection was oral or genital.
Let me know about your cold sore history, OK?

Hi Terri,
Thank you for your reply, I meant to write irritation, which a doctor told me doesn’t seem to be anything that looks like herpes and  gave me 2 creams. No I’ve never had any cold sores that I can remember.
I still have burning in my groin, inner thigh areas.
Another thing that is worrying me is I have like a big pimple type mark on the middle of my left thigh, it hurt pretty bad the first couple days but Since then there’s no pain, it does look like it scabbed over. But I don’t recall it ever being “open” or popping.
What can explain the slight pain in multiple spots of my penis and shaft and the burning sensations I feel now?

The ointments I was prescribed are nystatin and triamcinolome

So your doctor thinks that you have a fungal infection and that would certainly fit with the burning sensations you describe.  Is the medicine helping you feel better?
As to the lesion on your thigh, is it blistery or does it have pus in it?
