[Question #5016] Anxious about HIV/STD

Thanks in advance for your responses.    I am a man and went to a strip club (bachelor) party on 2/1.    After drinking I had a private dance with one of the strippers.     The dance was pretty heated and we got too carried away.  My fault and bad judgement.   One thing led to another I kissed and licked her breasts and fingered her vagina until she climaxed.    She rubbed against my penis with my pants on.    But then she pulled my penis out and rubbed her vagina (it was very wet from what I previously mentioned) against my penis for no more than 30 seconds until I made her stop.     I don't believe it touched the tip of my penis but can't be for sure.  I ended it there because I did not want to go any further.

On 2/15 I had very slight sting when I urinated.   Not everytime but just a few times.    I also felt like I needed to urinate a lot more.   I became (and still am) very anxious over this whole thing.   On 2/18 I went to urgent care clinic and described my symptoms they thought it was possibly a UTI and gave me Backtrim to take 2x per day.   2 days later my anxiety got the best of me and decided to have STD/HIV blood work done.   They did a "quick" HIV test which came back negative.  I am currently waiting for results for gonorrhea., chlamydia, syphillis.   My burning when urinating has gone away but I still feel a need to go quite a bit.

My questions are:

1 - what STD/HIV concerns are there for what occurred with the stripper?
2 - By taking the Backtrim 2 days before the blood work would that have messed up the reading of the blood?
3 - From what I read HIV would not be a concern because there was not penetration.  Is this true?
4 - I guess bottom line is can I get gonorrhea, chlamydia or syphillis without my penis being inside vagina.

Thanks again, Anxiously await your response.

Welcome to our Forum. I'll do my best to help.  My sense is that since the events you describe so clearly, you  have been anxious and looking for any abnormal signs or symptoms of possible STI.  This is important as I believe it reflects why you have experienced the symptoms you report.  The medical fact is that the activities that you describe so clearly are no activities which carry any risk for HIV or the most common STIs.  When persons start to look for sensations, they find them  In any normal day we "edit out" lots of normal sensations, for instance how our clothing feels at sites of contact, etc.  The fact however is that when a person focuses on one area or another, they are likely to note sensations- this may be an "itch" or heightened awareness of the sensations of normal bodily functions such as urination.  In addition, we become more aware of normal bodily functions, such as urination, a factor which results in the sensation that we are urinating more frequently than normal.  I suspect that this is what is happening to you.

Answers to your specific questions:
1 - what STD/HIV concerns are there for what occurred with the stripper?
See below, this is essentially a no risk event.  The symptoms you describe are not STI symptoms but are likely due to your increased awareness and concern.

2 - By taking the Backtrim 2 days before the blood work would that have messed up the reading of the blood?
No,  The Bactrim would have zero effect on testing for HIV or perhaps syphilis which are the only STIs which might be tested for using blood specimens.  If you were going to be tested for the most common STIs (I do NOT see any medical reason for you to be tested), you should be tested for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and trichomonas which are the most common STIs.  That testing would involve a urine test or perhaps swabs taken from your penis.

3 - From what I read HIV would not be a concern because there was not penetration.  Is this true?
Correct.

4 - I guess bottom line is can I get gonorrhea, chlamydia or syphillis without my penis being inside vagina.
No

I hope this information is helpful. the events that you describe, while sexual in nature, do not put you at risk for STI.  No testing is needed.  My advice is to try to not worry, to stop the "crotch watch" and move on.  EWH

First thank you for such a quick reply and for all the good work you are doing.

One thing I did fail to mention was in addition to the HIV (blood test) I also provided a urine sample for the other STI's.    I am waiting on that outcome.   However, based on what you have said it does not appear that I have much to be concerned about.

I was most anxious about the possibility of contacting something thru my uretha when we were rubbing against each other.   Again based on your comments that would not be considered a major concern.

So my last question is would the Bactrim have impacted the urine test?

I agree I need to move past this based on this dialogue.

Thanks again,

Thanks for the additional information.  I am confident that your tests will be negative,

I am not concerned that the Bactrim would impact your test. Results. I doubt that you needed it.  EWH
