[Question #5058] Ars symptom

Doctors, I have reviewed previous questions and have been unable to find an answer, aswell as finding conflicting info online.   I am 30 days out from my condom protected oral and vaginal exposure with a csw in Brazil.  Plan to test at 6 weeks.   On Saturday night after eating some chinese food, I felt sick and had watery diarrhea followed by vomiting.  4-6 hours later, my three kids and wife were all vomitting.  I am the only one who has had watery diarrhea.  About 12 hours after this all started my temp jumped to 100.4 and then back down.  Now today almost 48 hours later, I feel better with slight diarrhea, no nausea or vomitting, and temp ranges 97.5- 98.4.        I have read conflicting info on whether these are ARS symptoms.  It's been years since I've been sick.   Should this be an ARS concern?

I am sorry to see you back again, despite your last interaction with Dr. Handsfield (as my own prior warnings) in which he warned you that repetitive, anxiety-driven questions would be deleted without comment.  My sense is that your claim that this topic has not been covered on the Forum is an effort to work around our prior warnings.  I will give the benefit of a doubt and reply once and then close this thread.

We have commented multiple times on this Forum that isolated mild diarrheal with or without accompanying fever is not a typical manifestation of the ARS.  In your case, the fact that the entire family was ill with similar symptoms at about the same time validates that this is not the ARS.  The timing is right for food-borne illness, wrong for the ARS as well. There is no medical indication for testing related to the exposure you describe, with or without symptoms.

Your post is another Google-driven reaction to the guilt and anxiety which follow your low risk sexual encounters with commercial sex workers such as the one you describe.  Once again, you need to stay off Google and figure out how to manage the guilt and anxiety that appear to follow your interactions with CSWs.

End of thread.  EWH
