[Question #5082] Testicle exposure

I had a big screw up last night , I went to a strip bar and a stripper put my testicles in her mouth for a good period of time , I had a sports injury 2 nights before and have a pretty good gash on one testicle , it’s pretty deep . I was drunk and at the time forgot about the cut , Now I’m worried . What am I at risk of?

Welcome to our Forum. I'll be glad to comment. In terms of STIs, this was a very low risk event- the skin of the scrotum is thick and not susceptible to common STI infections in the same way that mucosal surfaces such as the urethra or rectum are. Even with a 2 day old cut, I would not be worried about STIs from this exposure. If the cut on the scrotum was still open however (I doubt that it was, two days is typically more than enough time for healing to begin, preventing infection), there is a risk of bacterial infection from the introduction of normal mouth bacteria into the cut.
My advice is to simply watch the area- if it becomes increasingly red, tender or starts to have pus on the surface, you may need antibiotics, not for the STD but for the skin infection (technical term is cellulitis). Let me emphasize that for this purpose, the inflammation of the cut would be obvious and urge you not to engage in repeated or vigorous self-examination which can actually cause infection on its own.
I hope this comment is helpful. No STI testing needed for this event. EWH

Please look at other interactions on this site relating to HPV. To briefly summarize what you can read about in more detail, if you have been vaccinated for HPV you are at close to no risk. On the other hand, if you have not been vaccinated, virtually all sexually active persons have HPV, there are few important consequences, and oral transmission is less efficient than genital-genital sex. I would not worry. There is lots more detail in the other posts I have referred you to. EWH---

Oral HPV is less common than genital infections. As you might expect there are no reliable data on oral to genital transmission, much less scrotal transmission but since the skin of the scrotum is a different sort of epithelium from the penis and other genital sites. Following the single exposure you describe, I would think that chance of HPV infection would be quite low and as I've already indicated, would not worry about it.
If you have not noticed redness and tenderness by now, it is unlikely that you will.
My advice is to move on from here without further concern.
As you know, this is my 3rd reply to this set of questions and thus, as per Forum guidelines, this thread will be closed shortly without further comment. Take care. Please don't worry. EWH
