[Question #5198] Lesbian Sex Genital HSV2

I am a female who has had HSV2 for years. I may be starting a new relationship with a woman. I take Valacyclovir when I feel an outbreak coming on.

What measures/protection should I use to prevent transmitting HSV2 to a new female partner?

Well, I would suggest a  few things - consider taking the antiviral medicine every day vs. with outbreaks.  That will reduce transmission greatly.
If she is the giver of oral sex to you, consider using a barrier, like a dental dam or saran wrap.
And also, be sure she gets tested to know if she really is uninfected or not.
And finally, disclosure of your status is very important for both ethical and legal reasons, and it also reduces transmission.
Please let me know what questions you might have.

I will definitely disclose my status.
Should my partner wear gloves when touching my genitals?
Thank you!

NO, that is not necessary.
