[Question #5249] Oral sex and STDs

Hello,  seen some similar questions but want to set my mind straight concerning my worry about an STI/STD regarding insertive oral sex on 22 March.  A few details followed by my questions:

I received a blowjob from two strippers at the same time.   Both only went half way down my shaft for about 7-10 minutes.  There was also a brief “passionate” kiss with one of them.

I can only assume given their line of work and how quick it happened that I’m at not the only one... perhaps even that day.

I was tested for Chlaymydia/Gonorrhea the following week 8-9 days post exposure... negative

I did a 10 panel test again 13 days post exposure.  All negative.  - My OCD made me do it.

7weeks prior to the incident I had a double varicocele surgery.  The incisions are just above my parts and appeared mostly healed by then, Although there are visible scars.

No other scratches or cuts in the areas at the time (that I can remember).

I have experienced symptoms of a UTI such as burning sensation in top of penis.

I did not explain my encounter to the urologist; however he treated with Cipro thinking it may be an infection related to the surgery.  After a few days of no improvement he switched me to sulfamethoxazole.  This has helped tremendously!  Still taking this medication 9 more days.

I have not experienced any painful or visible sores or lumps in the genital or mouth areas since.  Although I do feel an itching sensation all around those areas often... possibly because I’m thinking more about those areas.

It has now been 25 days since exposure.

Now my questions:

1.  Am I at any risk I should be tested further for?

2.  Should I stop reading the internet and worrying about potential herpes or syphillis infection? HIV?

3.  Am I safe for sexual activities with my wife?

Can’t believe I put myself in this situation - but the worrying alone makes me never want to be in a similar situation again!  Thanks for the advice

Welcome to our Forum. I'll be glad to comment.  Thanks for your confidence in our service an thanks as well for looking at other posts.  One of our goals is to provide access to information for clients through providing access to our comments to theirs.  Besides, it is good to know that your concerns are not unique.

As I'm sure you know from looking at other threads, receipt of oral sex is among the lowest risk penetrative sexual activities one can engage in.  You have gone the extra mile and gotten tested at a time when your tests provide definitive results and that rules out any possibility of an STI.  I think that even with disclosing your exposure to your urologist, you can be confident that you did not get and STI and that any symptoms you had were likely related to your recent surgery.  Thus:

1.  Am I at any risk I should be tested further for?
No, you can be confident in your results and no further testing is needed.

2.  Should I stop reading the internet and worrying about potential herpes or syphillis infection? HIV?
The internet is not your friend here.  Please stay off the internet and don't worry about HSV or syphilis.  If you were going to develop these diseases, you would know it by now.

3.  Am I safe for sexual activities with my wife?
Yes, it is certainly safe for you to have unprotected sexual activity with your wife.

I hope these comments are helpful. They are meant to be reassuring.  EWH

Dr.  Thank you for the explanation.  Two last clarifications from my side.

I did NOT disclose the encounter to my urologist.

Did I get tested too soon?  I have read that we should wait to get tested on most diseases till week 4 up to 3 months.  I assume by the statement “if you were going to developer these diseases you would know it by now.” Is to mean I would have other symptoms?

Thanks again.

I Understood that you did not disclose to your urologist but mistyped. Sorry.  That does not change my assessment.

Also, as I mentioned above your testing was conclusive. That means that it was taken at a time when your results are totally reliable.   The source that said that you should wait for testing for months was wrong. EWH
