[Question #5359] Cannot rule out hiv

2 years ago i had anal sex with a CSW. Although the contact was protected, at that time i had an HSV2 sore on the shaft of me penis. Theoretically the sore was covered from the condom, but i dont know if it was exposed at anytime.
From the time the contact was over i admit that i went crazy.
A brief history of my symptoms:
On the 5th day i had i mild fever (37.2celcius) that went on for 3 days.
On the 60th day  i had a huge herpes outbreak on my groin area with swollen lymph on my groin. ( due to the hsv according to docs)
On the 6th Month my left ear became heavy and clogged that continuous untill today. (Docs cant see anything wrong, perhaps they say its eustachian tube dysfunction)
Whats even more terrifying is that from around 5th month flat pinpointed red dots come and go on my palms and soles until today.
I have done 38 negative Hiv1,2 ab/ag test from week 1 until 2 years now, and 4 RT-RNA PCR tests all negative. I m sure something contrected back then and tests cannot pick it up. Could i be one of these rare cases?

Welcome to the Forum.  I'll be glad to comment.  The exposure you describe was a virtually no risk encounter if your condom remained intact and it sounds like it was.  For importantly you have tested (excessively) using two very sensitive, unrelated tests which would detect either antibodies to HIV or the virus itself and those tests are negative.  Thus you can be entirely confident that you do not have HIV.  further testing is a waste of time and resources.  the results are not going to change.

I am not discounting your symptoms however I am confident that they are not due to HIV.  It is time to stop worrying about HIV and to stop testing for HIV.  My advice is to be seen your own physician and tell him or her about your symptoms.  With his information they can begin to pursue what is really happening.

I hope this comment is helpful.  EWH

Hi again doctor. Thanks a lot for your reply.
Today i just noticed 2 purple marks on the shaft of my penis.Like little bruises. Add to this, that for the last two days i have another hsv outbreak on my genitals. I will go  check it soon. I didnt have any sex contact or anything to justify that bruise like marks. If its not hiv what is it? Could that symptom be justified by any other std or condition?
Please help. Nothing makes sense to me.
Thanks again

Thank you for the additional information.  The purple marks you describe however do not suggest an STI and your test results should still be believed.  Once again, my advice at this time would be to see your own physician, or, with respect to these purple marks, perhaps a dermatologist. EWH---
