Hello, i had sex with a sexual workers 49 days ago, vaginal with condom, oral sex vaginal and penis without protection, i had me tested with a 4th generation hiv test that came back negative after 45 days, is it conclusive? I had a nasal vestibulitis one month after the exposure (never happened to me before) and under an armpit a lump, could it be related?

Welcome to our Forum.  I'll be glad to comment.  You can be confident you did not get HIV from the encounter you describe. 4th generation, combination HIV antigen antibody tests are entirely conclusive when performed more than six weeks (42 days) after exposure.  Your results prove you did not get HIV from the exposure you describe above.

I hope this information is helpful to you.  Take care.  EWH

Yes, 4th generation EIA tests are reliable.  I urge you to believe your results.  EWH---

Thanks for the additional information. Whomever you spoke with seems to be using terminology which differs from that of nearly all experts in the field.  Either you were tested with a 4th generation test and whomever you spoke with was misinformed or you were tested with a 3rd generation test.  Either way, it remains highly unlikely that you were infected 3rd generation tests for HIV offer conclusive results at 8 weeks (56) days and at 49 days nearly all (over 97%) infections are detected.  When you combine this with the facts that you do not know that your partner had HIV and it is unlikely that she did from a statistical perspective, that a condom was used for your vaginal sex, and that no one has ever been proven to get HIV from receipt of unprotected oral sex, you should be confident that you did not get HIV.  I really would not be worried if I were you.

This is my 3rd response to your questions. Thus, as per forum guidelines, this thread will be closed shortly.  Please do not worry.  EWH
