[Question #5506] HSV EXPOSURE

Hi there,
About 4 weeks ago I had sexual contact with a guy who told me he had HSV2. We did have protected sex once, but the sexual contact was not protected. It consisted of our genitals rubbing together (maybe 1 min max), but that was about it. We did kiss and we both preformed oral sex on each other. He told me he had not had a break out in a long time, he takes his medication for the virus, and he did not show any worrying signs - meaning no bumps, itching, redness, blisters, etc.
I personally haven't had any symptoms or signs so far, but I should note, due to me anxiety, I did buy and am taking suppression medicine for HSV2 just in case.
Now the worry is absolutely killing me.
I am going to get tested tomorrow, but I would like to know, what is the likelihood that I possibly contracted the virus from him?
Was this a high risk situation?
And should I be worried?
Thank you.

The contact that you describe presents very close to zero risk. If I were in your situation, I wouldn't give it a second thought - honestly.
Taking antiviral medicine will most certainly impact testing in someone who is newly infected (and I don't think for a second that you are) but I also think testing will not be useful at all now that you've done that.
It is most definitely NOT a high risk situation and no you should not be worried, no.
The very brief, non-penetrative sex with someone with no recent outbreaks and on antiviral medicine is NOT a risk, I don't believe.

Even if the tip of the penis touch the vaginal opening?

The penis just touching the opening of the vagina is still very low risk indeed!

What a relief! Thank you for the reassurance.
