My results were conclusive? Do i need any more testing?

Welcome to our Forum. Thanks for your detailed description. It is my pleasure to inform you that your test results (both the RT PCR and the antibody test) are conclusive and prove that your flu-like symptoms, diarrhea, and any other symptoms you might have experienced are not due to HIV. You can have complete confidence with your test results. You are in the clear. There is no need for additional testing. Take care. EWH---

Thank you for your answer Dr, you are a famous specialist in the área along Dr handsfield, but if you can answered me some question i would be pleased.
1. The cdc stands that the window period for a 3rd generation test is 12 weeks altough the say that at 4 weeks 95% of People with hiv would be detected but 99.9% at 90 days, are they out of date? At the lab where i took the test they handle the same information and gave me a brochure that said the same information
2. The pcr was only for hiv1, What are the odds of catching hiv 2 in this country? Do i need to test myself with a pcr for hiv2?

1. The window periods that you mention are out of date and have been out of date for several years. They are much too conservative. A third generation antibody test for HIV provides conclusive results eight weeks after exposure.
2. Virtually all HIV seen in the Dominican republic is caused by HIV-1. There is no reason for an HIV-2 PCR test.
As I have already said your results are conclusive. They can be believed. There is no reason for further testing. EWH

Yes, the Cepheid HIV assay is well resected and can be trusted. CLIA assays for HIV antibody detection are made by a number of companies and can be trusted as well.
This will complete this thread. As I now close the thread, I once again urge you to believe your test results and move forward without continuing concern. EWH
