Older Discordant couple. Male has no HSV 1 or 2 either orally or genitally. Female has no oral Herpes 1or2 But HAS a HSV 2 genitally no HSV1 genitally. How many days is 500 mg (right amount?) of Valtrex needed to make the Suppression fully effective. Thanks! Looking forward to the follow-up questions.

Same couple...since female has Genital HSV2, would male need dental dam to provide her with oral sex ? Because Female doesn't have Oral HSV1 or 2 can she give oral sex to male without using a condom?....Thank you.

HSV 2 doesn't like the oral area but the male giving her oral sex is at a small risk of acquiring HSV 2 orally. Not zero but quite small. A dental dam or plastic wrap would certainly reduce that risk. The female being on suppression helps greatly to reduce any transmission. And yes, she can give oral sex to a male without risk if she is only infected genitally
