[Question #5709] only watery penile discharge (drip)

since 15 days I only have watery penile discharge, I don't have sex without condom but I have a lot of other sexual activities and play with a lot of girls, I received empirical antibiotic course that include: Azithromycin 1gm, doxycycline 100mg twice daily for 7 days, cefixime 400mg, metronidazole 2gm.
I still have watery penile discharge (drip) otherwise everything normal. I am 35 yrs, I don't have any medical conditions. now I am on day 13 after I start treatment.
what conditions could I have? what this watery discharge mean? what cloud I do to resolve it? for how long it will takes to go away? can I start to have sex with my wife?

Welcome to our Forum. I'll do my best to help. You mention that the discharge is clear and watery but do not mention how much is there- is it there all the time or does it come and go? Do you need to squeeze your penis to see the discharge or does it appear spontaneously? From your post it sounds as though you practice safe, condom protected sex making STIs unlikely and suggesting that you should look for other causes of your discharge. Your situation is a good example of why we urge our clients to test before they take antibiotics- taking antibiotics without knowing what is there confuses things. The treatments you mention would have provided treatment for nearly all gonorrhea, as well as chlamydia, NGU, and trichomonas which are the major causes of genital discharge in men and would have cured infections unless you have been re-exposed which sounds to be the case.
At this time, most STIs are very unlikely. There is one other STI pathogen, called Mycoplasma genitalium which occasionally causes a penile discharge which could be resistant to the antibiotics you have taken. At this time you need to see a health care provider, preferably a genitourinary specialist and have tests. If you were my patient I would perform a gram stain of the discharge from your penis, a urinalysis and test for gonorrhea, chlamydia and mycoplasma genitalium.
I hope that this information is helpful to you. EWH

Thanks Doctor Edward for your great response, and really I like all your post and I found it very helpful.
the watery discharge a little (only few drips spontaneously - come and go) I think it maybe decrease with time but still there few drips till now. I tried many times squeeze penis from base to glans but I didn't see any discharge. I only feel these drips and sometime notice my underwear wet. and since I start treatment I don't have any sexual activity at all.
my questions:
what do you think I have?
how long it could takes if std conditions to discharge go away completely?
can I start sex with my wife now?
what is the best plan now?
and thanks Dr.

Thanks for the additional information. In addition to your treatment and your negative tests, the intermittent nature of the discharge adds to my mprssion that you do not have an STI. I cannot say what it might be however. I would urge you however to stop repeatedly examining yourself- the trauma of repeated self examination itself can be irritating and cause a clear discharge. In answer to your questions:
1. I do not know what you have. I do not think you have an STI. You may have CPPS (described in Wikepedia) but I I think you need to see a urologist or genitourinary medicine specialist.
2. This is not an STI. If you had an STI it would have been cured and your symptoms would have resolved.
3. You do not have an STI that you can give your wife.
4. See my comments above.
