[Question #575] STD question

A couple weeks ago I received a handjob during a massage. No other sexual contact occurred during the massage. The handjob was not planned and I am freaking out a little bit.

My questions are the following:

1. Am I at risk for HIV or another STD?

2. I did not notice any cuts or cracks on her hands, I know the HIV virus dies almost immediately when exposed to the air.  However, if she was to have blood or another fluid on her hand could that possibly enter through my urethra (pee hole) and cause an STD? Is this even a rational fear?

3. Based on this encounter would you recommend any STD testing?

4. Am I ok to continue with normal sexual practices with my partner?

Welcome to our forum. I'll be pleased to comment.  Masturbation, whether receiving, giving or mutual is a no risk event in terms of STI, including HIV transmission.  This is true even if participants get each others' genital secretions on one another and, even if one of the participants has cut or abrasion on either their hands or their genitals.  Thus the event you describe was a not risk event:

There is no need for STD testing

There is no reason for abstinence from sex with others.

It is safe for you to move forward without concern.  EWH

Thank you very much Dr. Hook, I now feel that I can move on with out concern. Just one quick follow up question. The fact that I was not wearing a condom during this handjob would not change your answers, correct? Thanks again.

Correct, masturbation with or without a condom remains completely safe sex.  EWH
