[Question #5842] HPV from Vaginal Fluids

Hi
I recently came in an encounter where a girl who was giving me a hand job touched then she touched her vagina and likely fingered herself and returned to touching my penis with hand job.
What is the likely hood of contracting warts or other strains of undectable hpv?
Are there any tests to check ?

Welcome to our Forum.  I will be glad to provide brief answers to your questions but in addition, I would strongly suggest that you take a look at other posts on this Forum dealing with the topic of HPV. Your question is one that we have received and addressed numerous times in the past and reading our replies to those posts will provide additional information.  We leave past questions and our responses open in order to provide what we hope is useful information to others.

In response to your question, the events you describe was a no risk no concern event.  HPV if transmitted through DIRECT contact with active HPV infections.  Transfer of the virus from person to person through transfer of genital secretions on a persons hands simply does not occur.

In answer to your second question, the answer is no, there are no recommended/approved tests for HPV in men.  While some on-line sources offer such tests they are not FDA approved for this use and, I would add, are of no meaningful use even if they were (since most non-vaccinated sexually active persons already have HPV).

I hope this information is helpful. The encounter you describe is not something to worry about.  I hope you will not. EWH

Thank you for your response Dr. Hook.

A follow up question.
If she was wearing a thong and sat on bare penis would that be considered direct exposure? Would that put me at risk for any sort of hpv infection?

HPV is not transmitted through material.  Thus, if she has HPV, and IF her HPV were covered by her thong, there would be no risk for infection.  Even if she had HPV however and you were in contact, your risk for infection would be tiny.

I think you are probably worrying far more than is appropriate.  EWH

Would herpes be transmitable by such an encounter?

No, herpes is not transmitted through transfer of the virus on one person's hands to another's genital tract. Similarly direct contact such as sitting on your lap would not be expected to transmit herpes.

This is my third reply to your questions. As I suspect you know, we provide up to three replies to each client's questions. Therefore this thread will now be closed and there will be no further answers. I hope my responses have been helpful to you. Please don't worry. EWH
