[Question #5895] Herpes hsv 2 symptoms ?

Hi I recently had sex with a stripper with a condom about 3 days ago and I am starting to develop a scratchy throat with a slight cough I have no lesions or any kind of blisters near my genitals, but I read that herpes makes you develop flu like symptoms, i was concerned this could be signs or any symptoms?

I can understand your concern, but the flu symptoms that occur with herpes are not what you are describing, they are influenza symptoms like aching muscles, fever, sensitivity to light, not upper respiratory symptoms such as the ones that you describe. I am not at all concerned that you have herpes, based on the symptoms that you have described here.

Thank you for the reply back I was also wondering what is the time frame of when symptoms should and usually appear after sexual exposure? And what is the risk of herpes transmission with condom intercourse?

People who are going to display symptoms when they acquire new herpes have their symptoms appear within 2-10 days, normally. The risk of transmission from females to males is about 4% per year and condoms in this situation reduce transmission by 65%
