I had a CBC test last month as part of regular yearly visit. doctor checked my mouth and didnt say anything about my tongue.. but during my CBC blood results there is one thing which is not normal. My platelets count in blood.  it is little below normal.. usually the range is above 140 somthing. but i have 125.. any the note mentioned i have some giant platelets. apart from this remaining blood counts looks normal. But googling platelets count below normal found it might be immune system weakening

Welcome back, but I'm sorry you found it necessary.

I reviewed your recent discussion with Dr. Hook. There is nothing to add:  you had an essentially zero risk exposure and your symptoms do not suggest you have HIV, and neither do the results of your CBC. All I can do is repeat the same advice you had from Dr. Hook:  have an HIV test. indeed, I have difficulty understanding why you didn't do this long ago. You've spent 7 years unnecessarily worrying. Assuming no other potential exposures, you can definitely expect a negative result.

Please do not ask anything else until and unless you have been tested for HIV, if you would like to post the result. I will have no other comments or advice until then. Do it within 4 weeks, if you would like to post the result for my comment:  threads are closed after that time. In the meantime, I hope these commetns are helpful.

We don't examine photos of lesions, symptoms, etc. That comes too close to practicing medicine from afar, which we cannot do. But I can tell you 100%, without looking, that it is not anything having to do with HIV. White coated tongue happens with innumerable minor medical conditions and is never, by itself, a sign of HIV. If you remain concerned, show your doctor when you go for testing.

I have no patience with not being tested for fear of the result. If you happen to have HIV, you have an absolute ethical obligation -- to yourself and your wife -- to know it. And when people delay testing -- for HIV, but also for things like mammography or colonoscopy to check for cancer -- worry and anxiety always improve after testing, even if the feared result is found. Worry over the outcome is always more stressful than having an answer, even if it's the answer you don't want. Do not post ANYTHING else until you post a test result. If you do, the thread will be closed without reply. Just suck it up and get tested.
