[Question #6056] Re-testing needed?

I last engaged in protected vaginal sex with a prostitute on June 27. Since that time I have had symptoms beginning with swollen and sore to the touch lymph glands in my neck. After reading and becoming alarmed at the possibility of HIV, my symptoms quickly multiplied. Over a weeks time the sore lymph glands had spread to my armpits, and torso. I experienced night sweats, developed tenderness at the tip of my urethra and right testicle, and lost 10 pounds. Skin appeared unaffected. I had a 10 panel STD test done through STDCheck.com on 9/6 and all came back negative. Soon after additional symptoms occurred to the include tender and swollen lymph glands at arm and knee creases, palms and bottom of feet, plump testicles and perceived swelling and n the area toward and including my anus. And most recently developed a mystery bruise on the torso side of my bicep are. Dr. Handsfield has put my mind at ease as HIV goes. But my question is, should I receive additional testing for the other STD’s, or is testing 10 weeks after exposure definitive for all?

At the conclusion of your interaction with Dr. Handsfield yesterday he indicated "That concludes this thread. Please do not start a new one on this topic. There is no additional information you can provide or questions you will think of that would change the opinions and advice you already have had. I do hope the discussion has been helpful."
I have read your interaction with him and agree 100%. You have proven that you did not have an STI of any sort through your 10 test panel. There is no need for further testing. You need to work with your doctor to find another explanation for your symptoms. You do not have an STI and do not need further testing. Please accept this fact and move forward without continuing concern about HIV or other STI. EWH

Thank you for your response doctor. Just want you to know that it wasn’t my intent to beat a dead horse. Since all my previous questions and answers with Dr. Handsfield were specifically addressing HIV, I thought I’d ask about the other nine tests on the 10 test panel. I’m comforted to see your response and will not pursue any additional testing for STI’s. Thank you for your patience with me. I’ll not be continuing this thread any further.
