[Question #6058] follow up

I have some follow up. So my girlfriend seems to have a mass of some kind. The gyno did a pelvic exam. They are not sure what it is. They have to do some more test. I don't think this had to do with the two events I deceibed earlier. However, something weird happen to me yesterday. I woke you and I was thinking about sex. Over all I had slight "blue balls". I am in my early 50s. Anyway, i took a pee around 5pm and as soon as I finished, it felt like I had to pee again. I did but a cloud of white discharge came out. Freaked me out a bit.  I was thinking about sex a few minutes before. It did not burn and I have not had it again. My pee has been clear so far and not burning. I have no over discharge.  I dont know if that was a std or ejaculation. My pees seems clear now. Would a std come a go? What do you think? Thank you.

Welcome back to the Forum.  Today I happened to pick up your question and will be responding.  I have reviewed and agree with all that Dr. Handsfield said to you in the thread the was closed about 10 days ago.  Your partner's mass and ongoing evaluation is unrelated to any STI that you might have- your earlier tests and evaluations prove this.  When women have a gynecological problem, it is not all that uncommon for them to recur and be a continuing problem.

Regarding your experiences, it is not at all uncommon for men who are dreaming about sex to find that they have a small amount of discharge present on awakening.  This discharge is typically semen.  In fact, in some circumstances of the sort you describe, men can actually spontaneously ejaculate while asleep in relationship to their erotic dream.  I suspect this is what happened to you.  Certainly, between your earlier tests and the fact that your discharge cleared after urination and has not recurred, This is the likely explanation regarding what was going on.  STI symptoms and signs do not come and go.

I know you are concerned about your partner.  Please do not worry that you have given her an STI that accounts for her recent problems.

I hope that my explanation and assessment is helpful to you.  Please don't worry.  EWH

Thank you doctor to your reponse. Just to clear up somethings. I had the discharge while I was awake at about 5pm. I never had this before.  Additionally, I only got tested for HaiV. Regardless, I used comdoms for anal and oral. I also used a condom for just oral. Do you still think the discharge is not a std? Thank you once again for your time.

Thanks for the additional information.  The timeline is now unclear to me.  If you awoke after dreaming about sex and experienced the discharge my assessment is unchanged.  I do not have another good explanation if the timing was different and a urine test for gonorrhea and chlamydia might be advisable although, from reading your posts, I still feel the likelihood that the discharge you observed was due to STI seems quite low given your consistent condom use and limited sexual activity.  EWH---

I was not a sleep. However, i had blue balls during the whole day unitl about 5pm. I than took and pee and felt like peeing again and the discharge came. It looked kinda like semon but I was not hard. It was cloudy. This has been about 9 months since the anal and oral.  It was about a month since just the oral. All acts were protected. The anal lasted about one minute. I only had a hiv test. No other std test. I have not had any symptoms just what is happening to my gf and the discharge yesterday that only happened that once. After that, I have not had any other discharge, nor pain, not buring when I pee. It looks clear. I want to know if you think this is a std and if it has anything to do with my girlfriends issue.

Thanks for the additional clarification.  First and foremost, I do not think that this has anything to do with your GF's condition and doubt that it was an STI.  It may have been related to your "blue balls" - how long did it take for them to improve after you saw the discharge.

As I also said before, while I think this is unlikely to be an STI, it may be worthwhile to have a urine test for gonorrhea and chlamydia to prove that it is not and to allow you to get this concern off of your mind.  I anticipate that if you test, the test will be negative.  EWH

That was a good question. The blue balls went alway a few minutes after. I agree with you that this is probably not a std. This is why I asked if it comes and goes. I would think a std would not come and go like this. I don't want to take anymore of your time. I am going to consider testing. Thank you for all that you do for us doctor. Have a great day.

I think we both agree that this is unlikely to be an STI and, while it is outside of my specific area of expertise, the timing suggests that it may have been related to your "blue balls".  Although neither of us is particularly worried that this is an STI, if it continues to be on your mind, STI testin is easily performed.

I'll close this thread now.  Take care.  i wish you the best.  EWH
