[Question #6103] Risk of std's and testing required?

Hello Dr,
I had a encounter with a massage therapist last night, I would like your opinion please on the following as I am from a country with an extremely high prevalence of hiv and maybe by default other std's as well, i am vaccinated against hep a & b.
Massage was standard but i also massaged her and then stimulated/masturbated her clitoral area for a while(i received no masturbation and was clothed at this point so did not touch my own genitalia after touching her, she did massage my perineal, scrotum and base of penis during my massage but she was clothed and she did wash her hands with normal soap before she started, i did see a Dr today about a rash around my anus and he found a mucus discharge which he has sent away for testing, i have regular normal massages and the buttocks and inner buttocks are massaged, i have never had anal sex , penetration or rimming except by an urologist during prostate exam, can this be related to an std from previous massages , there are no warts visible etc?) there was no penetration of her vagina with my finger, during this period the area i touched was wet, almost immediately afterwards i sprayed my hands with a medical grade high alchohol content hand sanitizer and then washed them with normal soap.
I have low grade eczema on my hands and fingers and mainly have peeling of the epidermis. When i got home i tested my hands and especially the finger i used for cuts by putting a high alcohol hand gel on and did not experience any stinging which should happen if there were any cuts or skin damage?
I have read that masturbating someone is low risk for some std's and no risk for others and have seen post's mentioning that even the CDC classifies this as safe sex, i am not questioning the CDC statements i just can't find it on the internet.
Please advise if testing for any std or medication is needed for this event as I am married and don't want to put anyone at risk?
Thank you in advance.

Welcome to our Forum and thanks for your careful description of the events that concern you. I happened to visit the Forum soon after your question arrived so you are getting a response more rapidly than usual - responses to follow-up questions may take longer. I'll be glad to comment. the event you describe was entirely safe with no risk for acquisition of any STI. There is no need for testing of any sort and no need for concern. The reasons I say this with complete confidence are:
1. STIs are not transmitted through receipt of masturbation, even the recipient is unclothed. STIs are not transmitted from person to person through transfer of infected genital secretions on a person's hands. The fact that she washed her hands before beginning your massage adds even a higher (but unneeded degree of safety)
2. The reasons for this is that exposure to the environment (air, room temperature) and the transfer process itself lead to microorganisms becoming non-infectious virtually immediately upon exposure to the environment.
3. The act of your hands contact with her clothed genital area is also a no risk event . STIs do not infect the hands (even if there are rashes or scrapes on the hands) and are not transferrable for the reasons mentioned in 1 above.
4. STIs are not passed from person to person through clothing, even when the clothing becomes wet with genital secretions.
5. Your eczema, even if there were open sores present would still not change things- still no risk.
I hope that this information is helpful. EWH

Appologies Dr, my description was not accurate enough, when she massaged me she was clothed and i was not, when i massaged her and stimulated the clitoris area she was not clothed but i was, maybe i misunderstand your answer but in point 3 you refer to her clothed genital area or did you mean unclothed?
I am assuming that point 1 of your answers is applicable to the anus issue i referred to?

Thank you for your clarification. I had thought that you were closed. Despite the fact that you were not, this remains an absolutely no risk event. Similarly, even if you massaged her unclothed clitoris, there was no risk of STI acquisition, including HIV There is no reason for testing, and no reason for concern.
I hope this clarification is helpful. EWH

Ok so the take away is that points 1,2&5 of Dr's original response and Dr's latest response is applicable and that masturbating someone is safe sex?
I have read that the CDC also says that mutual masturbation is safe sex does Dr know where i can find this?

You are correct in repeating my earlier statements that receipt and performance of masturbation is safe sex.
I am in a location where I do not have a reference at hand to provide you stating that masturbation is a no risk activity for STI's including HIV, I suggest that you use it as an search term.
This is my third reply to your questions. Therefore, as per forum guidelines, this thread will be closed shortly without further responses. Take care. Please don't worry. EWH
