[Question #6137] Possible Risks

I regretfully had oral sex and Vagina,
Penile rubbing without full intercourses with a man who said his last girlfriend was a very promiscuous woman(however she insisted they both be tested for STDs before they entered into a relationship and both were clean) After though i found out she had cheated on him and they broke up. He wasn’t tested after she cheated on him. So now I am extremely concerned I could have all kinds of STDs as well as HIV. I do suffer from health anxiety so this is magnified. I don’t seem to have any symptoms, except I had a sore throat on and off two days after for a few weeks.

Welcome to our forum and thanks for your confidence in our service. I will do my best to help. Can you tell me how long how long it has been since your last exposure with this person? Even though your recent partner's partner had other sexual partners and cheated on him during their relationship, the likelihood that she had an STI is relatively low. Most people do not have STIs and most single exposures to an infected person do not result in infection. Nonetheless, given your anxiety it would be helpful for you to test for the most common STI's.
If your exposures involved only penile robbing without insertional intercourse, you do not need genital testing. For your own peace of mind I would suggest that you have a throat swab performed for gonorrhea and chlamydia. I anticipate that these tests will be negative and urge you to believe the results when you get them. Your risk for HIV is also very very low. It is unlikely, given his previous test results, that he had HIV. Even in the very unlikely circumstance that he had HIV, the risk of acquiring HIV from performing oral sex on an infected partner is very very low, leading to infection in just one out of every 10,000 exposures on average.
I hope that this information is helpful to you. If any of this is unclear or there are additional questions please feel free to use your up to two follow-up questions for clarification. EWH

The exposure was around five weeks ago. I don’t seem to have any symptoms just a sore throat on and off two days after that I believe was allergies.

Thanks for the additional information. I meant to mention earlier that most throat infections due to STIs are asymptomatic and are detected only with testing. I doubt that your current sore throat is related to the encounter you describe.
Personally, if I were you, I would not test but that is a personal decision without a right or wrong answer. If you feel testing would give you peace of mind, your results would be definitive at this time. I am confident that there is little to worry about here. EWH

Thank you for your reply! One final question can ARS cause main symptom tiredness with the sore throat on and off or any of these stds?

No, fatigue and tiredness are non-specific problems that could have any number of causes, including anxiety. Tiredness is certainly not a sign of the ARS. The ARS typically involves a severe sore throat, high temperatures, and muscle or joint aches. Further, the ARS typically occurs 10-20 days after acquisition of infection so that any symptoms you may have at this time are certainly not ARS.
I hope my comments have been helpful. As per forum guidelines, this thread will now be closed. Take care. Please don't worry. EWH
