[Question #6159] Test window period

Hello, thank you for taking the time to read my question.  About a month ago I had a possible exposure to chlamydia and gonorrhea: I was taking antibiotics for two weeks. I started AMOXICILLIN a couple days after the encounter for an ear infection.  I was done with them 2 weeks after the encounter. I did a urine test for chlamydia and gonorrhea one month after the encounter. I believe 28 days to be exact. This is two weeks after finishing the AMOXICILLIN: would the antibiotic make the results unreliable? Do I need to test further out or is one month accurate: do antibiotics extend the window period?

Thanks

Also, does it have to be first catch to be effective?  I can’t re,ember if I urinated in the toilet first then filled the cup. Thanks.

Welcome to our Forum.  Thanks for your question.  The answer to question is straight forward- testing on specimens taken two weeks after completion of antibiotics.  IF you were infected ( you do not know that you were and, even if your partner did have an infection) Gonorrhea and Chlamydia would be detected.  Believe your test results.

Even if your specimen was not an initial void, results would be reliable.

I hope that this information is helpful.  EWH
