[Question #6199] Hiv test conclusive

I had exposure with an unknown girl in Thailand with condom and oral without condom.
I had 4 Hiv tests(4 gen. Fda approved tests) up to 1 year.(3 weeks,5 months,8 and 12 months)All negative.
Can I be 100% I don't have Hiv?
For my girlfriend a 4 gen. Test after 3.5 months is conclusive?
No prep taken.no other illnesses.
Thank you!

Welcome to our Forum and thanks for your question.  The exposure you describe was a virtually no risk event (there are no proven cases of HIV acquired through receipt of oral sex and as long as a condom is worn throughout the encounter and does not break, condoms are highly effective in eliminating risk for HIV as well.  Since that time however you have more than conclusively proven that you did not acquire HIV.  Combination HIV antigen/antibody tests are conclusive at any time more than 6 weeks after exposure, thus your tests at 5, 8 and 12 months prove that you did not acquire HIV.  Similarly for your GF, her 3.5 month result is also conclusive.  for each of you there is no need for further testing related to the exposures you mention.

I hope this comment is helpful.  EWH
