[Question #6319] Irritation

Hello
Thanks for taking my question. I noticed a day ago on the underside of my penis shaft that I had dry flaky skin in one section and a little bit of dry skin above that section.
Took a shower and the dry skin went away and there is a small circular patch that is red and looks irritated. The small patch of skin above just disappeared after the shower.
Doesn’t hurt at all nor is there any bumps just the red skin. I have put aquaphor on it I had masterbated before I noticed this. Unsure if I have anything to worry about or if it is just irritation/ dry skin. No other sexual exposure except a massage.
Thank you.

Welcome to the forum. Thanks for your confidence in our services.
No STD is a likely cause of this sort of problem. The large majority of penile rashes and other skin problems are not STDs. (I have a book titled Genital Dermatology Atlas. As that implies, it is filled with photos of genital skin problems. Of its 300+ pages, all STDs take up only 15 pages.) In addition, no STD is possible as a result of a massage, even if that event included hand-genital contact.
This being an STD forum, we don't get into detail in judging potential non-STD problems, so I can't help more. Physical irritation from vigorous masturbation might be possible. Some other common causes of penile rash are lichen planus, psoriasis (mostly in people with psoriasis elsewhere on the body), and a kind of medication allergy called fixed drug eruption (if you are tanking certain medications). You can google these, or google something like "genital rash" or "penile skin problems) to see photos thay may give clues as to the cause. But most important, iff the problem continues, get medical care. Don't self treat any further before being professionly evaluated. In the meantime, don't be serioiusly worried. The vast majority of problems like this turn out to be quite minor, nothing serious.
I hope these comments are helpful. Let me know if anything isn't clear.

Thanks Dr HHH
One other thing I was thinking was if I masterbated after going to the gym (had washed hands) could there be any fungal infection from hands to Penis this way?
Thanks

Fungal infections can cause rashes like this, but they do not result from self-inocuation like this. Most fungal infections are caused by natural fungi carried normally on the skin -- not so much to a new infection, but increased skin reaction to them. Having advised against self treatment, it probably would be OK to try an OTC antifungal cream of the sort used to treat athlete's foot. But if that doesn't clear it up, for sure get in-person professional care.---
