[Question #6338] STD Test
|
I am normally in a monogamous hetero relationship but recently was given unprotected oral by a man for about 30 seconds. He had no visible symptoms or sores anywhere. I got a chlamydia and gonorrhea test four days afterwards - they both came up negative. The testing window indicates 2-6 days and I'm wondering if I tested too early to get a definitive result. I am also wondering if I am at significant risk for any other STD (other than HPV) and should wait and test before resuming unprotected sex with my normal partner.

Welcome to the Forum and thanks for your question. I'll do my best to help. You do not mention your gender or provide much detail but I doubt that this information would change my response,The chance of getting any STI from a single, brief receipt of oral sex is low. The most common STI to occur following this sort of exposure is Gonorrhea and even that is uncommon. Your tests for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia were taken at a time when results will be reliable.. At this time in the absence of signs or symptoms and with negative tests for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia, I would not worry about resuming unprotected sex with a regular partner.
I hope this information is helpful. EWH
