[Question #6366] Chances of infection and possibility

Hi Dr. I had an exposure 6 months ago, handjob at a message parlor. She touched inside her vagina multiple times and used that wet hand/precum and gave me handjob. NO pevetrative/oral sex at all.

I read a few threads on other blogs and internet saying that handjob is a no risk exposure irrespective of scenarios for HIV transmission. But my partner started having wiered symptoms like fatigue, rash on her back and chest, getting tired suddenly. I was worried that I got infected and transmitted to her. I took below tests  at 8 weeks and 3 months.

Panel 083935 - HIV Screen 4th Generation wRfx - Non Reactive
HIV-1 RNA Qualitative - Negative

I didn't have sex with her again past 3 months just to be safe, wanted to wait till 6 month mark to be absolutely sure of any what if scenarios.

I just took another set of tests 2 days ago at 6 month mark. Can I 100% trust the negative results and my partners symptoms are not related HIV and is there any chance for HIV not detectable bu those tests.

Panel 083935 - HIV Screen 4th Generation wRfx - Non Reactive
HIV-1 RNA Qualitative - Waiting for the result

Welcome to the Forum and thanks for your question.  Thanks as well for checking on our past replies to other clients- that it part of the reason we have them posted- to serve as a resource for others.  This reply will confirm what you have already learned from your review of past replies.  Receipt of masturbation, even when in the course of the activity a partner's genital secretions are transferred between partners, has never been shown to result in transfer of HIV.  You are not going to be the first.

In addition, your 8 week and 3 month test results should be believed.  The results of 4th generation tests obtained more than 6 weeks after an event are conclusive.  I am likewise confident that your qualitative RNA PCR test will be negative, providing you with further assurance that you were not infected.

Trust your test results.  there is no reason for additional testing and no reason related to the event described above to abstain from unprotected sex with your regular partner.  I hope that her symptoms will improve soon.  EWH

Thanks Dr. Hook. I just got the RNA result also and it is negative. Can I completely 100% consider my 6 month tests are conclusive and move on and stop worrying about that incident

As I said above.  Your prior tests were conclusive and so are these.  Further testing is a waste of time.  It is time for you to move forward without concern.  EWH---
