[Question #6390] Hsv 2

Dear doctor,
I had unprotected sex 6 days ago with a girl who was HSV positive.
I know that because she took a test and told me. Her HSV 2 IGG was positive.

She didn’t have any outbreaks at the time we had sex. She didn’t have any pimples or lesions.
Questions:
1) it has been 6 days and I’m really worried if I contracted it. Is there an early detection test to see if I got it?
2) what are the symptoms I should be looking for?

There is no early detection test.  The early detection tool is your eyes.  If you see something abnormal show up on your penis within the next week or so,  be seen and evaluated.  You should be looking for any unusual breaks in the penis skin - water blisters on a red base are the most common presentation of new herpes.
The likelihood of getting genital herpes at a single encounter is low indeed.

1)So if I don’t get any blisters within the first week does that mean I did not get herpes?

2) if I test for IGM at 9 days and it was negative does that mean I didn’t contract it?

3) it was long sex session with a lot of rubbing, but she didn’t have any blisters present.

4) is there any upcoming cure for Hsv2?

Correction with addition.
The sexual session was unprotected and she was on top with a lot of rubbing (grinding). She didn’t have any blisters or herpes signs. The incident was 7 days ago. In those 7days I didn’t get any herpes signs. But I sometimes feel a little itch on my penis and buttocks. Maybe because I have been over thinking.

1)So if I don’t get any blisters within the first week does that mean I did not get herpes?

No, but it means it is less likely that you got herpes, yes

2) if I test for IGM at 9 days and it was negative does that mean I didn’t contract it?

No.  The IgM is a terrible test and I wouldn't bother

3) it was long sex session with a lot of rubbing, but she didn’t have any blisters present.

That actually doesn't matter and is not the defining thing about whether or not you became infected

4) is there any upcoming cure for Hsv2?

Not soon, I'm afraid
