[Question #6467] Follow up #6460

Good morning,
Dr Hook, after our interaction yesterday, I was very reassured, just had a last question that went unanswered.
It was: 2) your no risk assessment stands even if my gf used the deodorant stick right after her friend did?
The reason I ask is because in question #2186, which is an analogous situation - a shared toothbrush - you mention that as long as it hasn’t been used in a few minutes, there is no risk.
So, irrespective of timing (whether she used it right away or after a while, still no risk( and hypothetically assuming there were some traces of blood from recent shaving that made contact with fresh cuts in my gf’s underarms from recent shaving as well)?
Thanks for clarifying

Sorry I was not clearer (I thought I was). If your GF's friend had HIV (unlikely) sharing a deodorant stick would be no risk, even if it was used immediately one after another. The situation with toothbrushes is not really analogous since gums sometimes bleed and it is likely that the chemical components of the deodorant stick would be toxic to HIV, makin git non-infectious. Thus, no risk, even if the deodorant was immediately shared and even if your GF had fresh cuts under her arms- still no risk. Really!!! EWH

Oh, okay I see how it is not analogous. Thanks so much for the clarification. To put it all together in a hypothetical scenario:
Her friend is HIV positive (acute infection, highly infectious) and shaves his underarms, uses the deodorant stick and leaves some little traces of blood on it.
My gf shaves her underarms and uses(a few back and forth rolls) the deodorant stick right away and the little blood left on it makes contact with her fresh underarm cuts.
This is no risk and no reason for testing. Correct me if i’m wrong.Should you confirm that all this is correct, you could close the thread as I will not have further questions.
Best regards,
Johnny

You are playing games. My sense is that you are over reacting. No risk means no risk. I see no need to qualify this with "what if questions". No risk, no need for testing.
the thread will be closed shortly. Please don't worry. EWH
