[Question #6503] Follow up and Reccomendation

Hello again Dr's,
I can assure that this will be my second and  last post about this (and believe me I have learned a HUGE lesson)  and I appreciate all of your help. Like many who are asking you here I admittedly suffer from anxiety and fear of my situation even though Dr EWH, stated is was a very very low risk encounter.  So like I said before at 21 days I had a 4th Gen test- Negative. And at the advice of Dr EWH  I was going to wait until the 6 week mark to get another. But my anxiety and fear got the best of me( i felt like i was loosing my mind) and I got tested 4th gen again at 33 days results today are Negative as well!! Through my lack of knowledge about this I was not aware that you could order your own test through the internet and just pay for them and I used one that my Dr had put in the system for me to use at the 3 month mark (i do not think he was overly thrilled but I needed to for my own sanity). He said he was "fine" with me getting tested but it proved nothing at this point as it was way to soon.   So I would appreciate your advice/input as to what you recommend that I do going forward )test again 42 days?(obviously using the online order method). I can tell you I feel so much better getting the test back even though it was not at the 6 week mark and even with what my Dr said.  Can I resume contact with my wife or should I continue to wait.  Thank you again very much for all that you are doing here.  Sorry for sounding so clueless but If i was sure I wouldn't have to ask i just want to move on and put this all behind me.

Welcome back to the Forum.  If I were you I would accept your 33 day test results as conclusive.  More than 99.9% of HIV tests in newly acquired infections are positive at 4 weeks (i.e. 28 days) after acquisition of infection. Considering the low risk nature of your exposure and current test results, I would not bother to test again.  I would have no concerns whatsoever about resuming sexual contact with your wife either.

I hope that this reply is helpful. EWH

Dr Hook thank you sooo much! You no idea the incredible weight that has been lifted off, I actually feel like I can breath again! If I had not found your site and had not been able to ask my questions and get your expert opinion and advice I’d have been in literal hell over the next two months! I can’t thank you enough you are truly an amazing man and Dr. to be providing your knowledge to anyone who needs it! Thank you again !

Hello again Dr's. I have just one last question. When looking at my results (aside from the circumstances of my encounter)  Both 4th gen and both negative at 21 and 33 days. Should I still even be worried? (because in my head I am and I'm pretty sure I keep making up symptoms and im still worried) I thought I would feel better after that test and I did for a bit.  I know Dr Hook said he felt it was conclusive but I'm just having a hard time wrapping my head around it knowing I was supposed to wait 12 more days( I dont really understand science so it makes it all just that more hard to come to grips with). I also have realized that after this that I do need to get help for my anxiety which is out of control as a result. I'm sorry for even asking again I am just looking for some more reassurance. Has there ever been a case where someone was actually found positive after a negative test on day 33?  My apology for the paranoia , I'm trying to deal with this the best I can and move on like I said its just hard.

This question is repetitive.  Please see my earlier comment above.  neither of us has ever seen a person who's 4thgeneration test has become positive more than 28 days after and exposure.  I would not be worried if I were you and as I said, would not bother to test further
