[Question #6674] HIV- sex toy

Hi Dr, I purchased a sextoy at an adult store and used it for mastrubation. It was new and I cleaned it with hot water before used it. Is there any risk and possibility of getting infected with HIV from that incident.

Welcome to the forum. Thanks for your question.

For an HIV risk to exist, the toy would have had to be used by an HIV infected person in the few minutes before you used it, and still wet with his or her blood or genital fluids. And even that would bring little or no risk. Of course no possibility and nothing to worry about.

Thanks for the response Dr. In my case I bought a newone brought home amd cleaned with hot water and then used it. So based on your response I didnt have any chance of getting infected with my incident. Sorry for repeating it, I was little scared for some reason

There would have been no risk whether or not the item was washed before use.---
