[Question #6696] HSV-1 possible outbreak

My girlfriend is HSV-1 positive. Last weds we kissed and she performed oral on me.  Saturday she had an outbreak.  I had what appeared to be a scratch on my inside lip sunday night, then it turned into a almost a white head on monday. I will attached photos.. What do you think it is?

I'm so sorry, but we cannot look at photos on this website and give opinions.  But I can tell you that if you acquired HSV 1 orally from her, and you are indeed negative for HSV 1 (do you know that from having an antibody test?), then I would expect something a bit more dramatic than a single blister.  People can get something called mucocele's on the lip that some may thing look similar to a herpes blister - you could look up pictures of that online.  If this becomes more remarkable, you could have it swab tested for HSV or you could even do that now to clarify your situation.  Anything else would be a pure guess on my part but from your description, I would doubt brand new HSV 1 infection, but that's just a guess.

Hello.. Maybe i will give you a detail description on the timeline and symptoms

2/19 - We kissed and performed oral sex together
2/22 - She has an outbreak on her lip
2/23 - I notice a small scratch on the inside of my lip
2/24 - Right before bed I noticed a clear looking blister ( painless , felt like a zit in my mouth )
2/25- It grew in size and became whiter ( the blister ) but still filled with fluid
2/26 - Got smaller in size , felt like it was clearing up, then later in the day filled up again with clearer fluid
2/27 - today its almost like a white head pimple.

I have had multiple herpe blood tests prior to this.. I get tested quarterly and never tested positive.

No pain at all during this timeline.

Without a swab test of the blister (if it was actually a blister) is really isn't possible to know for sure but often, on the inside of the lip, we see a mucocele, so that's my thought - but again, with no exam and no swab test, it's just not possible to know. And again, if she gave you HSV 1, I would expect a bit more of a reaction, either orally or genitally.
