Went in to get checked for my annual exam with my trusted obgyn. Did a full STD panel including Herpes 1&2. Herpes 1, I have know to have since I can remember per my lab results but with no sores. 

Everything Normal 

HSV 2:  Type Spec AB, IGG W/RFLX

Note to patient: Negative IGG

Result: <0.91

This test checks symptoms for previous exposure to herpes type II, the test show you have not been previously exposed to.

Went to a different obgyn doctor because I got a pimple like on the outside of my labia was luckily seen 2 day this appears and was seen by 2 doctor's there both agreed this was irritation due to my waxing/shaving. Told me nothing to worry about. But to rule out went ahead and did biopsy/culture for herpes type. Also I requested blood work again full STD including herpes 1&2. (Should had never done this because I had never tested positive for Type 2.

Results Biopsy: Nothing Abnormal

Herpes Result:Negative 

Blood work however:

HSV 1 IGG:  60

HSV  2 IGG: 3.52

My husband got tested was Negative 

HSV 2 IGG: <0.10

I don't have or ever have had any outbreaks neither has my husband and now I can't sleep due to these test results. Went back to my original doctor scared and he told me without an outbreak from either and no symptoms, also knowing I was tested in November and have not had any changes in partners these second set of test mean nothing. He told me this is why he never suggests these tests. Please advise I want my peace and life back. Can this be a false positive? I do have Hypothyroidism/Hashimoto's and have had for 10 year's now.

Only medical conditions I do have is Hypothyroidism/Hashimoto's and have had for 10 year's now. 

I can definitely see why you are distressed and confused.  Given our circumstances, I'm not clear why the doctor would have done an STD screen at all.  Why was STD screening done?  If you went to two different doctors, they likely used two different labs who use two different lab brand test kits for herpes.  You might check on that and see.  The problem here is that the first test is easy - negative.  But the second test is far more complicated.  The CDC recommends anyone who tests positive with an index value of 1.1 to 3.5, needs confirmation.  Your second result is just barely above that level.  I do think you should obtain a confirmatory test to clear this up.  Have you ever in your life had sex with anyone other than your husband, like before you were married?

Thank you for your response I am not what Lab's were used but I do know they are different. The test for a biopsy was because I mentioned my cousin had just been detected to breast cancer. The tests for herpes because I asked her since there was a pimple and I was scared. Since the pimple had been only 2 day's she said it was the best time to detect anything. Turns out everything normal. 

Before I was married yes I had another partner. I would always take care of myself and have safe sex and get labs done every year with my pap smear exam and all Negative nothing Abnormal. Everything was normal and fine until these last test.  Swab and Culture Negative but blood work positive. 

Should I be worried? I just want a peace of mind I am married and have 4 kid's, my youngest 7 months this is just too much I have not done anything different. My husband does have HSV 1 since he was a child and has gotten cold sores/crancker sores in the past, but nothing lately neither have I. We are sexually active and I do give him oral from time to time but not as often and we are using condoms as prevention method so I won't get pregnant again. I am so scared I might have genital herpes by reading these test, but I have never gotten any outbreaks or neither my husband. 

Since these lab's I have not been sexually active with him, I am scared. Please help and give me hope.

After all this happened, anything I felt itch sensation I get worried. I went into depression because of this. 

Can you please advise. How is The Western Bolt test different from all others? Would this possibly be a false positive? HSV 2 on his side was negative back in November and in March. 

I just want to be able to enjoy life with my husband and 4 kid's. I am scared of everything. I don't really understand anything right now. How could I have gotten this?

YOu should not be worried about breastfeeding, no. 

The traditional IgG tests look for a single protein that associated with herpes antibody, the western blot looks for all them, a far better test and the cold standard for herpes antibody testing.  So if your husband tests negative, then the only possibility is the previous partner.  I would be happy to help you with the blot at westoverheights.com or you can work with your own provider to get this test from the University of Washington.  I think you should do it - right now, I'm not sure what the heck is going on with your test results.
