[Question #6834] Persistent STD like symptoms

This is going to be my second question on this forum & I’m coming back for advice because my symptoms haven’t gone away and this is now month 4. I’ve been doing a lot of reading of other questions and researching the answers you’ve given other customers and believe I might possibly have Chronic Prostatitis or CPPS.  4  ago I had back low back pain at about the 3 week mark I started having frequent urination (no pain) after about 2 days of that I had an unprotected sexual encounter with a new female, 1 day after that I felt an irritation or pain after I would urinate. I went to the doc who did a urinalysis that was clean and prescribed cipro for 7 days. Symptoms did not go away except for the irritation after urinating.  The female I had the encounter with tested for a wide range of STDs & all came back negative. After the 7 days of cipro I developed pain near anus and testicles and soon felt like a golf ball between my legs, I had to sit on a pillow To ease the pain. This golf ball feeling went away after a few weeks and now I’m left with pain that comes and goes on penis, testicles, anus area, very tense muscles around the butt area. The pain is really only while sitting for periods Of time (sitting at the office, dinner table, driving. But when standing almost all pain is gone and I feel normal. I tested for chlamydia, gonorrhea & trich about 2 months after the encounter and was negative although I have a question about that as well I can’t remember exactly how soon I took amoxicillin for a tooth problem before the test I know it was no sooner that 10 or 11 days  before that test. ( most likely longer) I might just be paranoid.  Will that affect my results that far out? Also I’ve had two issues in the past with a painful or uncomfortable ejaculation at the time I didn’t think anything about it, it was so long ago. I’ve also had 2 issues in the past or loss of erection and trouble getting an erection. Only twice in the past way before the encounter. Could all this b

does the 2  erectile issues & 2 ejaculation issues along with the low back pain & frequent urinating long before the sexual encounter point towards Prostatitis? Meaning the sexual encounter was just at a weird place in the timeline? Do any STDs of your knowledge cause these type of symptoms?

Welcome back to the forum, but I really can't help much at this point. We previously discussed your exposure, your symptoms, and your multiple STD tests. The additional information here doesn't change my evaluation and advice. I do not deny your symptoms, but you are wrong (in the title of your question) to call them "STD like". They are not. STDs are infrequent cause of all the symptoms you describe, and the overall pattern is for sure not explanable by any known STDs, either along or in combination with one another. And some of your symptoms are never caused by STDs at all, such as erectile dysfunction, the vague sort of pains you describe, or "tense muscles around the butt area". On top of which you've been treated with antibiotics that would cover any potential STDs that could cause some of the other symptoms, AND your partner's negative STD test results. AND your doctor's negative exam and his reassurance, which we discussed in your previous thread.

Taken as a whole, your symptoms strongly suggest an emotional/psychological origin. They are typical for genitally focused anxiety magnifying trivial symptoms or normal body sensations that you otherwise would ignore or not even notice. This is often the consequence of anxiety over a regretted sexual decision. Your mention of prostatitis may be significant -- not because true prostatitis is likely, but the symptoms are similar to the male chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CPPS), which is easily convused with prostatitis. Google CPPS (spell it out) for more information; the Wikipedia article is good, and so is information available from the Stanford University dept of urology. I think you'll find lots of parallels with your own symptoms.

If your symptoms continue, I suggest you make another appointment with your doctor and ask him or her about this possibility and discuss my opinion. Professional counseling may be in order. Whatever else, i strongly advise against any more tests for STDs or any other infection.

Thank you for the response Dr. I have been taking your advice and trying to relax and move on from the situation. I guess my final question that would help close this whole discussion is would the amoxicillin taken and finished  10 days prior to my test have any affect that could cause problems with my test results for the chlamydia, gonorrhea & trich. That would be a week & 2 days before my urine test. Thank you for your patience

It makes no difference. Even if amoxicillin suppressed an infection without curing it, the test would have remained positive. Your negative test results are conclusive.---

Thank you very much for clearing all this up. I will do my best to move on without further testing & I feel confident with my negative test results.

Thanks for the thanks. That concludes this thread. Please note the forum policy against repeated questions. This being your second, it should be your last concerning this exposure and your symptoms, STD testing, etc. Thanks for your understanding.---
