[Question #6841] HSV2 Reading

Male- the only intercourse I have ever had is receptive oral (never had vaginal or anal). I recently had a reading of 3.60 with the Quest IGG test- In Jan 2020. Been asymptomatic, do you recommend doing a confirm test, with w-blot if so when should I? FYI i had an HSV1 reading of 13.20. Thank you.

I absolutely recommend a western blot for you. And you can do it now. The timing is perfect. This doesn't make sense, from a sexual history perspective.

Hi Terri, thank you very much for your prompt response. I will take the western blot test. I would just like to add a little more color I have numerous partners (some I didn’t know that well) of which I received oral from. But as stated never had vaginal or anal intercourse.

And HSV 2 is very very rarely shed from someone's mouth. Thanks for the "color" but it doesn't change my opinion. Getting HSV 2 from oral sex would be a true surprise for me and other herpes experts - not impossible, nothing is impossible about this, but so so rare!
