[Question #6868] Help. Extreme Anxiety

Hello, I am back from a previous question. This last week has been one of the most dark times I have experienced. I am so paranoid. I have a question regarding what outbreaks will look like. I know they are all different but, this week i noticed i got a few red marks on the inner sides of my butt cheeks. Two of them resolved within two days. No blisters or ulcers. Now, a day later I got a bump that sincerely looked like a pimple to me. It was harder in nature and on my butt. It looked like a whitehead it popped after a shower and just had a slight raised red mark. Cleared within a three days. It is currently just a purplish red mark with white skin. Now, a day after another pimple showed up two inches over from that. It was sore but had the same appearance. I popped this one myself which i shouldn't have but it had some clearish fluid  and a bit of blood came out the next day it was just red and raised I did see a tiny black hair protruding out of it and a bit of white skin hanging from it. Now, this morning I noticed a dark scab with the hair there. I complained of rashes before. but, this is in a total different area and appearance. my question is,
1. Does valtrex alter the appearance of herpes
2. Does this seem like herpes. The size of it was the size of pin head. no itching little pain. similar to a pimple.
3. It says online a lot of people mistake their herpes for pimples and bug bites. Is this what is going on?
I am almost 100% certain that my partners positive blood test for HSV2 and my on going symptoms are HSV2. I cannot control my anxiety
4. I am in a really dark place. How long would you say being off valtrex will I see antibody production?
5. Does everyone eventually create antibodies even while on valtrex?
6. Why would I be getting Monthly outbreaks on valtrex is that normal? I feel like every couple of days I see something that could be herpes related. I am really struggling.

I am sorry to add I could not see a doctor due to Covid to get it swabbed. Everyone blows me off saying this does not appear to be herpes. One Doctor literally said to me prior when I went in that she would bet a Million dollars this does not look like herpes to her. Should I believe doctors? I know alot of times people have trouble with doctors dismissing them.

Nothing that you described above sounds herpetic to me.

1.  yes
2.  Not at all!
3.  No, I don't believe that this is true, given your very clear descriptions
4.  For a final test, I recommend 12 weeks off medication.  How long has it been?
5.  I don't think we know that, but I've had a patient with a positive swab test be on Valtrex for two years, she did an IgG that was negative for HSV 2.  She doubted the accuracy of the swab test because she had not had recurrences so I pulled her off suppression and within 6 weeks, she had a positive IgG.
6.  I think you are seriously overestimating what is herpes and what is not.

I don't know what doctors have seen that they dismiss as herpes but what you've described above definitely does not sound like herpes!  At some point, when you can get these things swab tested, I think you will find more reassurance.
How long have you been off Valtrex now and how long have you taken it?

thank you for your quick response.
I have been off it for a week now. well close to ten days. It has been 7 weeks from my last exposure with him. the problem I am facing and reasons why I cannot control my anxiety is. Those rashes i described in my previous question were not normal for me. I am convinced that the valtrex I was on was making my outbreaks develop but not actually ulcer and scab. It was just two rashes a month apart that was red and had peeling white skin. I saw a three doctors during that time that would not swab me due to there not being any sores. My gyno said she sees herpes lesions frequently and It would not present that way and said folliclitis, clogged glands or contact dermatitis. I also had some burning sensation all around my upper thighs that came and went during the previous two weeks. It in my mind adds up to HSV2. Now these new red spots and pimple things are just freaking me out.  I just cannot get my head around being exposed to someone with HSV2 with 8 unprotected sexual encounters, who didnt have any symptoms for years and years would not result in transmitting after I am having all these sensations.

Peeling white skin is not consistent with a herpes outbreak.  I have to agree with your GYN.  You are adding 2+2 and getting 5!  Couples where one is infected and the other not can have intercourse for decades and not transmit.  Having 8 unprotected encounters with someone who has HSV 2 may very well not result in transmission.
If a woman is having sex with an infected male 104 times a year with no condoms and him not taking any medicines, 10 women in a year, approximately, will become infected.  That statistic should reassure you.
A reasonable strategy would be to stop Valtrex now.  If you get an outbreak, have it swab tested.  A real outbreak with sores.  If you don't, wait 12 weeks and get an antibody test.  I forget - have you had one already to know that you are not already infected?
