I'm really scared and worried that I have gotten Chlamydia & Gonorrhea from urine going into my vagina. On several occasions I have gotten a golden shower where the individuals would pee on my vagina and urine would go into my vagina as well. Can I get Chlamydia & Gonorrhea from someone's urine going into my vagina?

Welcome to our forum and thanks for your questions. I’ll do my best to help. To my knowledge, there are no reports of anyone having ever acquired either gonorrhea or chlamydia from a golden shower.  While I suppose that infection in this manner it’s a theoretical possibility it is certainly a rare event, if it occurs at all. The number of bacteria present urine is modest and being in urine dilutes and washes away and bacteria that might be present.  Further, both gonorrhea and chlamydia do not cause infection of the vagina but cause Infection deep within the vagina at the uterine cervix.  In the course of a golden shower it is unlikely that Urine would get far enough into the vagina to cause a cervical infection.

Bottom line this is a very low risk, if not no risk sort of exposure.  If you wish to be entirely sure, testing for these organisms is very sensitive and easy to perform.  Should you choose to test, I anticipate that the tests will be negative.

I hope these comments are helpful.  EWH

But while I was getting urinated on, I was also fingering myself at the same time. Wouldn't that be able to push the urine into my vagina and cause an infection? I did go for a Gonorrhea and Chlamydia urine test which came back as negative. However, I went for a test a year after the golden shower and worry that I could have been infected during the time between the exposure and the testing done (read that these std bacterias can go away without treatment) while causing damage to my reproductive system.

Thank you for the additional information however, it does not change my assessment.  Please remember that most people do not have STIs and that even when partners have infections, STIs are not transmitted during masturbation.  I am not concerned that you might have become infected while masturbating during a golden shower.

You are correct that sometimes these infections do resolve without therapy however if you have been tested since the events you describe and have negative tests you can be confident that you are not infected.  The risk for long term damage due to the activities you describe is very, very low and is not something you can test for or should worry about at this theme.  EWH.

Thanks for the reply doctor, really appreciate your time. Just have one last question and want to clarify something in general. I have been reading forums like Medhelp which you are on amongst other forums leaders like Auntjessie etc... They all (including yourself & Dr Handsfield) say that you cannot get STD's from urine exposure and that urine does not transmit STD's. Is this accurate? So say I touched someone else's urine and stuck my fingers in my vagina, I wouldn't get Gonorrhea or Chlamydia (or other STDs) anyway because 1) like you've said you can't get STD's from masterbation and 2) urine doesn't transmit STD's to begin with?

Also, besafemed (another health site similar to this one) also states that "While we can test for gonorrhea and chlamydia by testing urine samples, there is no transmission of STDs through urine."

I understand your confusion.  As you have discovered, while we can accurately test urine for the presence of STIs, it is also correct that it is not infectious. Thus you cannot get gonorrhea or chlamydia from a golden shower, from masturbating after contact with the urine from an infected person or through other similar routes.  Urine does not transmit STIs.

I hope that these responses have been helpful. As per Forum guidelines, now that you have received three responses to your questions, the thread will be closed shortly without further responses.  Thanks for your confidence in us.  Take care. EWH
