[Question #6884] Hopefully HSV assurance

I’ll try to stick to things that just matter. As you may see I had a past question about a month or so ago...as I was finally mentally getting over this, this comes up now but personally after reading a lot of stuff on here it doesn’t add up to me as herpes but you’re the experts so here it goes...

7 months ago (28 weeks) I had a encounter with a man where I received oral sex for about 5/10 min. Probably less than 10 but not sure exact.  During the days after I developed what I and the doctor on here believed was NGU. During this time as you can imagine I was checking myself A LOT. Never noticed any lesions/blisters/sores/scabs. And I believe if it was a new infection I would most likely have seen those symptoms with in 10 days. I did not.

Fast forward 7 months and about 2 weeks ago from today while taking a shower I noticed what I would best describe a zit under backside on my penis head. Not shaft but back side of head. Now I have what I think are called PPP (bumps around head of penis) it almost looked like one of the bumps were inflamed or that zit was on that. But it wasn’t on top of the skin. I believe herpes tends to be on top of skin not “underneath”. Also I hadn’t showered for about 3 days prior and I did run day before so maybe just dirt caused irritation. This was a single spot. NO 3/4+ multiple lesions/sores/blisters, no itching or burning. Also after shower the next morning it looked SIGNIFICANTLY better. Redness was almost gone. By day or 2 after it was basically skin color. Herpes doesn’t present like this does it? It doesn’t get a lot better after a day? Now I can kind of see a bump but it might just be in my head cause other times I can see it and it looks just like the other bumps I already had(PPP)

Before you ask I have 0 history of ever having cold sores to my knowledge and same for my wife best of my knowledge. Only person close to me that I know gets cold sores on their mouth is my mother.  So I guess it’s possible that I could have oral hsv and ne

Oral hsv and never got symptoms and if that’s the case I most likely wouldn’t get it genitally. And if there was a true first out break I would have most likely seen it 7 months ago.  It doesn’t add up to me to equal herpes. I know you can’t say 100% certainly short of an actual test but what your best expert opinion.  I’m kind of pretty sure it doesn’t sound like herpes but I wanted to get your opinion. Again never blistered. Never itches burned. No multiple sores. Just a single “zit” that looked much better the next day and even better the day after.
Also oral is not 0 risk but much lower than vaginal or anal to contract sti. I who know if the guy had it. I guess that would be 50/50. I don’t think i missed anything to add...your thoughts please?

I would agree that a first outbreak would not occur 7 months after a concerning encounter.  That would be a recurrence.  But this doesn't sound like a recurrence of herpes to me.  I'm going to look back now at what you've written earlier.  Be right back.

So your previous post with Dr. Hook indicated that you were diagnosed with NGU.  Now I see you are perhaps wondering if that instance could have been caused by HSV 1, is that correct?  While NGU can be caused by HSV, it is often accompanied by genital lesions and you aren't reporting and sores noted after the encounter of receiving oral sex from a partner other than your wife.  What you are describing now does not sound like herpes to me.  it healed so quickly, quite unlike most herpes recurrences, and it would have to be a recurrence, as I mentioned above.  And it's presentation a single bump doesn't fit either for me.  While herpes can present as a single lesion, that combined with healing in such a very short time just doesn't fit with a herpes outbreak for me.

It sounds like this encounter still has you somewhat worried, and I'm sorry about that, but I think you should feel reassured that this is really unlikely to be herpes.

I actually wasn’t worried about it being the cause of NGU. Also along with what happened I was checking myself so much I’m pretty sure I would have noticed something at the time this happened 7 months ago.

So being that I would have most likely seen it then (initial outbreak) and I did not. And the fact that the way it presented recently with a single “zit” and was significantly better the next day and day after doesn’t add up with herpes. Again no sore/blisters/burning/itching or scabbing.  It is reassuring that you seem to agree that it doesn’t sound like herpes.  I had just gotten back to normalcy mentally when this came up. So obviously it brought back all the emotion I had before. However the first time was a lot more worrisome cause there was obvious symptoms that could have match with Gono or NGU.  This was worrisome but didn’t add up to me with what I’ve all read on here  and just wanted to confirm that with you. Thank you so much for the services you experts provide.
