My fiancĂ© and I both have HSV-1.  She has it genitally and I have it orally.  As far as we can tell she got it from me.  I was unaware I had it at the time.  We have resumed a fairly normal sexual relationship.  However we don't kiss like we used to.  We were both wondering if you new of counseling services in our area which is SE Michigan.  We would like to talk to someone who could counsel us medically and emotionally and perhaps put us at ease.  Both of our physicians think its not a big deal and don't have much to say about it.  For the health of our relationship we think it would be good to talk and consult with an expert.

It is extremely unlikely that either of you would get HSV 1 at a new site on your body, now that you have it where you have it.  I would strongly suggest that you kiss away with great gusto and have oral sex and do all the things that you want to do!  The worst is over - transmission has occurred and HSV 1 genitally is normally not a significant medical issue at all.  is she worried that she will get it orally as well? You've presumably been kissing for a while = if she was going to get it orally, she likely would have by now.  My hope is that you will resume you lovely kissing immediately!
