[Question #6993] Possibility of a false positive?

I have never had symptoms of herpes. I had been sick and also dealing with bacterial vaginoses. A blood test was given. I was told I was positive for herpes 1 and 2. I have never had symptoms of herpes 1 or 2. I was shocked. I continued to be sick. I had more test done and tested positive to a current Epstein Barr Virus. My question is... could I have tested a false positive for herpes 1 and 2 since it was tested while I had active Epstein Barr Virus? Test was given October 2019

What was the index value associated with the positive results of your HSV 1 and 2 antibody tests?

Herpes 1 9:33
Herpes 2 2:39
(AB IGH) (PT SER. QN)
Once again this test was taken while having active EBV before realizing I had it. Which could have been reactivated. Was not tested until a couple weeks later showing positive with EBV.

This has nothing to do with EBV. However, your HSV 2 result is in what we call the low positive range and has perhaps a 50-50 chance of being a false positive. You need a confirmatory test and the best is the western blot, done only through the University of Washington in the US> You can work with your own provider and UW to get this done or you can work with me at westoverheights.com
