Welcome to the forum. Thanks for your confidence in our services.

First, you describe very low risk exposures. Condoms work and protected you during the vaginal sex events; and there has never been a proved case of HIV transmitted mouth to penis. Second, white or yellow coated tongue is not a common symptom of new HIV infection. Also, coated usually is not due to oral candida, and lack of improvement on miconazole gel (Dactarin®) is strong evidence you had just regular coated tongue, not candida.

Most important, your HIV blood test is conclusive:  you definitely do not have HIV. The antigen-antibody (AgAb, "4th generation") HIV tests are among the most accurate diagnostic tests for any medical condition. They are 100% reliable when done more than 6 weeks after the last possible exposure, and a negative result always overrules both exposure history and symptoms; there is no such thing as a false negative results more than 6 weeks after catching HIV. Even if your exposure had been high risk, and even if you had oral candida, the test result proves you don't have HIV. (Hepatitis B or C would not cause these symptoms either -- but that also doesn't matter:  those test results also are conclusive.)

If your oral symptoms continue or you have other symptoms that concern you, keep working with your doctor -- or perhaps ask for referral to another doctor for a second opinion. In the meantime, you can stop worrying about HIV. You don't have it!

I hope these comments are helpful. Let me know if anything isn't clear.

The HIV blood tests are highly standardized and automated, and they have built-in controls that assure the test is accurate. For example, every test run includes control samples known to be negative and positive; if those known results are accurate, it proves that all patient specimens in that test run also are accurate. You can be 100% certain your test was negative and that you do not have HIV.---
