[Question #7125] High Risk Exposure

Hi ,
I had a high risk exposure near end of December 2020 with a male. I was the receptive. Initiated PEP after 2 days but stopped after 3 days worth of treatment due to anxiety and other reasons. I tested for all std including hiv, syphilis and hep b and c and everything came back negative. Tested again for hiv duo on June 1, 2020 and came back negative.
I had a massage with a happy ending on july 7, 2020. No intercourse, no body fluids were exchanged. The massage parlor was clothed the whole time. Now, on july 25 i started having nausea and burning feeling in my mouth.  My tongue was somewhat white meaning similar to that of an oral thrush. The symptoms have subsided a bit but still have them that is why I did another hiv test (due to the lookalike oral thrush and nausea) today but result haven't come out yet  .

Do you think I have an std particularly hiv or simply these symptoms are related to anxiety to which I definitely have. I am on lexapro.
I also have a bleeding disorder called VON WILLEBRAND DISEASE TYPE 3. Does  this bleeding disorder affect hiv testing. I am on HUMATE P.
Should I be worried? Do I need further std testing?

Forgot to mention.
The nausea has been going on for almost 5 days. Its has subsided a bit. I feel like something is stuck to my throat. I searched on internet and nausea and vomiting is symptom of HIV .
Also for oral thrush. I had oral thrush earlier this year due to antibiotics so I know how it feels and looks . The recent one I think is not oral thrush it's just burning and a bit of white patch (but I think everyone has white/red tongues). Maybe the symptoms I have aren't really symptoms but rather my minds perceiving them as symptoms???.

Welcome to the forum. Thanks for your confidence in our services. Apologies for the longer than usual time to reply.

There's no chance you have HIV; neither HIV nor any other STD is a likely cause of your symtpoms. Of the two exposures, only the first carried any risk of HIV, but your negative test results almost 6 months later were conclusive. The second event was truly zero risk. And your apparent yeast-like oral symptoms are not typical of a new HIV infection or any other STD, despite lots of misinformation available online (especially about HIV). I would also point out that whenever someone suspects his or her own symptoms might have a psychological origin ("rather my minds perceiving them as symptoms"), usually s/he is exactly right. Indeed, even before you raised that possiblity yourself, I would have been suspicious they were psychosomatic.

I am unaware of any data that VWD (or any other form of hemophilia or any blood clotting disorder) raises the risk of HIV or STDs if exposed. In fact, there are few if any medical conditions that do that. Some immune system problems may make HIV worse once infected, but they do not elevate the chance of becoming infected, and certainly that's true for VWD and similar medical problems. This is also true of all medications, including blood clotting factors like Humate P:  no elevated risk.

For all those reasons, I see no medical or risk-related reason for any additional testing, for HIV or anything else. Of course you're always free to be tested if the negative result will help you stop worrying. But if you were a close family member of mine, or if somehow I were in your situation, I would not receommend testing and wouldn't be tested myself.

I hope these comments are helpful. Let me know if anything isn't clear.

Thanks for the reply.
So my understanding from your reply is in no way I have HIV from previous two exposure and the symptoms I currently have (nausea and tongue issues) are not compatible with HIV.
Furthermore, my current health condition and current medication do not  affect HIV testing but may or may not worsen HIV if I were to have it.

Is the 20 days HIV testing duo I had yesterday considered conclusive? Note, still didn't get the results yet. Here in Canada they take a bit of time.
When you have HIV symptoms, does this mean HIV antibodies are always positive?

Also, I did mention in the first post that no body fluids were exchanged. This is wrong. The 'happy ending' resulted in me ejaculating on her hands.

"So my understanding...."  Correct on all counts.

Yes, it's the immune response to HIV that causes symptoms. Therefore, a negative antibody test means the symptoms are due to something else.

20 days is not conclusive. It takes 6 weeks. However, since you could not have caught HIV anywya, it really doesn't matter. In the nearly 40 years of the known worldwide HIV/AIDS epidemic, there has never been a case even suspected to have been caught by hand-genital contact. And perhaps it will also ease your fears to know that in the 14 years of this forum and it's preceding forum, with thousands of questions by people worried about catching HIV, not a single quesioner turned out to have caught the virus. You certainly will not be the first. If and when it happens, it will be from a truly risky exposure. Still, if you feel you need a 100% conclusive test based on the timing of that event, you'll need a duo test at 6 weeks.

Good news. The results of my last test came back as negative. I will try my best from now on to move on with my life.
Last question and I hope you can help me figure out what's wrong with me.
As your aware I had a high risk sexual exposure in December 2019 and ever since I have been very stressed about catching std . I have tested almost 7 times for stds during a duration of 8 month and everything came back as negative.

Now ,
Some time in February 2020 I was mausterbating and I ejulaculated. The moment I ejulaculated I felt very sharp pain inside my penis under neath the head. Note during that time I was in extreme stress and anxiety because of the December exposure. I saw a many doctors and I took azithromycin, doxycycline and ciprofloxacin and nothing cured me. The pain then moved to my groin area where I was diagnosed with 6mm hernia. Pain in groin disappeared but pain in my penis kept coming back. It's been on and off pain for many month and still I am in pain. I saw urologist and he said you have a guilty penis from decemebr exposure and refused to give me a medication. He indicated to see a psychiatrist to cure my pain. I also saw a surgeon for the hernia and said as long as you dont have pain in groin area I'm good. He said there is no way hernia is causing the pain in your penis.
Saw another urologist , he doesnt know what's wrong with me. He suggested  to use coconut oil.

Please help. Tell me what's wrong with me. I have no std. No rashes. No discharge. Maybe there is discoloration on head but maybe due to hydrocortisone creams , fucidin and clonazepam I'm using to treat this thing. The pain comes and goes. It comes back every time after musterbation
Thanks

I forgot to mention one more thing.
When my bladder is full and if I apply pressure to my bladder using my fingers I feel the pain in my penis where it hurts every day e.g. under neath the head. So I am not sure if the problem is coming from bladder.
Also my prostate is within normal size.

No STD causes such a symptom, and this forum addresses STDs only -- not non-STD symptoms, gential or otherwise. Keep working with your doctors. Good luck.

That concludes this thread. I hope the discussion was helpful; sorry I can't help with the latest problem. Good luck.
