[Question #7263] Herpes open sore

I have two small open herpes sores just under the head of my penis. I had protected sex with a woman with a condom.
So the sores were covered by the condom.
Can she get herpes from that? The condom did not break.

However when I unrolled the condom it went over the sore.

So as I’m unrolling the condom on my erect penis, it goes over the sore; would the part that unrolled that went over the sore touch her and could she get herpes from that?

And lastly if I do have an open sore does that mean she can get it from shedding on areas that aren’t covered by the condom?

I'm not sure I fully understand the scenario that you describe.  So you had intercourse, the condom stayed intact, but afterward, you were unrolling the condom and it passed over the sores but there was no more contact with her genitals?  Is that right?  If that is right, then she was not exposed.  However, I would make the strong recommendation that you don't have sex even with a condom when you have herpes sores present on the penis.  The condom could definitely break and then you might well infect a partner.  This is very risky behavior.  I'm guessing you may not have noticed the sores until you unrolled the condom?

Correct.  I did not notice the sores until after protected sex and the condom didn't break.

So from what you are saying, the sore did not come into contact with the person with whom you were having intercourse.  So that person is not at risk.

So it wasn’t an open sore, it was skin irritation from dry skin. My dr looked at it.

With that said, I am on a gram of valtrex daily, we have sex about 3-4 times a week.

We use condoms regularly. We have not used condoms a handful of times maybe 6 or 7 times.

She has given me oral sex without a dental dam a few times as well.

I never had a break out since I’ve been with her which is a year.  Maybe a prodrome symptom like an achy butt cheek but never a break out. We’d have protected sex around that time If I felt it.

I do have scars on my shaft from a previous outbreak.
She is getting a test.

Would her risk of getting it from me be low risk? Medium risk? Or high risk?
