[Question #7281] Hsv2 from oral/handjob

Hey Terri, I feel like I’ll know the answer here , but my anxiety is getting to me and there is a lot of conflicting stuff on the net.   I tested negative for both HSV 1 & 2 a month ago. Last night I hung out with a girl who I know is hsv2 positive genitally. Our genitals never made contact, she gave me oral and a handjob. I touched her genitals with my hand but avoided touching myself with same hand until I washed it and got home.  at one point I think she was touching herself and then touched me briefly. I was naked in her bed as well (my butt touching the sheets). Does any of this present a risk of me contracting HSV2? I thought my knowledge of HSV would let me do this without worry, but Im second guessing myself now. Do you think this encounter warrants me to get tested again? It’s the only sexual encounter I’ve had since my last tests

When I say touched me briefly I mean like she was “rubbing” herself and then touched my penis Head briefly to remove a hair or something

Oh she also said she’s never had a cold sore, more worried about the hsv2 here , but feel free to give your full opinion

I suppose she could’ve been touching herself a bit while I wasn’t paying attention in between handjobs .. but nothing excessive (we fooled around for probly an hour) .. I guess this is my main worry , I feel like in the moment I was confident I was being safe, but now I’m worried my test results that I finally worked up the courage to get done are invalid now :(

What you describe does NOT Present a risk for transmission of HSV 2.  Zero risks.
Sorry to be a little longer in answering this - we were camping this weekend without the internet.

Thanks Terri. I understand! So even if she touched herself then me it’s okay? I’d like to continue to see her, but my anxiety is a little out of control for it lol...  so no reason to get tested again because of the encounter I mentioned?

Yes, even if she touched herself and then touched you.  The three of us agree that hand-to-genitals is not a risk for transmission of an STD.  I really don't believe that you need to get retested, no.  I know you worry about these things a lot but this is NOT a risk for you.
