[Question #7311] HIV risk

|
Hello. My previous question was closed due to my multiple replies. Please refer back to my last post. The additional thing that I wanted to clear up is that I know without a doubt that during the sexual encounter that my penis was at least 50-70% covered. There was no penis head or foreskin exposed. I just want to be certain that I was not at any risk for HIV. The concern is based on me not being circumsiced and being educated on things like this if there is a future event .

Welcome back to the Forum although I'm sorry you felt it necessary. I reviewed your interactions with Dr. Handsfield over the past day or two and agree with all that he said, including "...as long as the head of the penis and meatus (urethral opening) are covered, protection is complete -- not only for HIV, but for all STDs transmitted by fluids, including gonorrhea and chlamydia. Contact of HIV with intact skin of the penis (or anywhere else) is risk free.". Fifty percent coverage of the head of your penis would certainly eliminate any risk for HIV, irrespective of whether or not you are circumcised (and I realize you are not). I would not worry. I hope this affirmation of Dr. Handsfield's assessment is helpful. EWH
