Hi.

About 5 days ago i noticed a cold sore tingling feeling on my lip. I took some famciclovir but it was probably too late as it developed into a sore. It was smaller than normal tho so maybe the fam. did something.

Tonight I had a shower and dried myself with a towel..I was running late to meet someone and came out of my room and realised my lip was bleeding from the towel. I went back in to my room and then used a tissue to pat dry the sore multiple times until it stopped bleeding. I put the tissue in my pocket and ran to meet the person and  because I was late i forgot to wash my hands.

I totally forgot what I had been doing when the person I was supposed to meet saw me and shook my hand.

I don’t know if I’m going to meet this person again. The hand shake was only about a minute or two between touching the tissue/my lip and shaking the person’s hand. I’m concerned about giving him Herpetic Whitlow.  How risky is what I have done?

This situation is not a risk at all to the person whose hand you shook.  Zero risks.
