[Question #7414] Masturbation

Hi, so this is really uncomfortable for me to ask, but here goes. I am a female in my early 20s, and since i was a little kid, i have been masturbating by putting my crotch on a corner of a table of some sort and grinding on it. During this, my legs are in the air, putting a lot of pressure on my vag. When I was little, it used to swell and hurt afterwards, but now there is no pain or swelling. I am trying to masturbate in normal ways now (with my fingers) and I am unable to feel good. I can not find my clit. I am a virgin, and I am worried I will never have an orgasm with another person because of my masturbation in childhood and now adulthood. Did I break my clit??? I am pretty concerned.

Welcome to our Forum and thanks for your questions.  This question is a bit off the topic area to which our site is targeted.  I will make a few comments but think this discussion is perhaps better discussed with your own gynecologist or perhaps a sex therapist.

I would think that the sort of masturbation you describe, while traumatic, would be unlikely to do permanent damage to your clitoris.  Your gynecologist can readily exam you and point out the location of the clitoris to you.  While sometimes people are hesitant to discuss their sex lives and sexual pleasure with their doctors, this should not be an unapproachable topic, particularly for discussions with your gynecologist;  if it is, you may want to consider another doctor.  As far as masturbation is concerned, many women seem to have better results using a sex toy or vibrator.  There are a wide variety of these devices which can be located both on the internet and at certain adult-focused stores.  A sex therapist might be able to guide you in these pursuits as well.

I hope these comments are helpful.  EWH
