[Question #7626] Odds of contracting an STI

To whom this may concern, I had a one night stand  with a person in which I do not know the sexual history of, and am concerned in the odds of contracting any sexual transmitted infection.  There was sensual kissing, and had a condom on for both receiving oral and vaginal intercourse. Intercourse lasted anywhere from 2-5 minutes. We used the same condom for oral and vaginal intercourse. The only time I took off the condom was to ejaculate on a part of her body. This occurred 3 days ago. Does this warrant a need to get tested or would testing be unnecessary? Thank you!

Welcome to our Forum. Thank you for your questions.  I'll be glad to comment. This was a virtually no risk encounter.  there are several reasons that I say this:

1.  Most people do not have STIs,

2.  Even when persons have STIs, most condomless sexual encounters do not lead to infection.  In your case, you used a condom for both your oral and vaginal exposures reducing your risk to close to zero.  FYI, when condoms fail, they break wide open leaving no doubt that they failed.  You can have confidence in your condom as long as there is no obvious breakage.

I see no medical or scientific reason for testing at this time.  EWH
