I’ve been diagnosed with hsv2 for 4 years now. I take valtrex 1gram daily for suppression. I recently entered a relationship with a married man. We are not going to have vaginal or anal sex. He recently fingered me and then almost immediately touched himself on the penis. I didn’t realize at the time I had a small lesion on my buttocks, as the outbreaks are so minor at this point. He never touched this area. Is there a risk he transferred the virus to himself?

I think the risk of transmission to him is very very small. However, it is good to know that when someone has a buttocks lesion, they can also shed from the genital area. If you are breaking through suppression on one gram, you might consider breaking that dose in half and taking 500 mg twice a day, about 12 hours apart for slightly better coverage.
