Dr. Hook,
Per my previous question, I had gotten negative results for both Gonorrhea and Chlamydia with urine tests 7 days after encounter. My partners infection completely cleared up with the monurol and all my symptoms seemed to have gone away. Turns out he small amount of discharge was clear and sticky when i looked at it in good light; I read this could have been precum or normal mucous. I normally wake up with an erection in the morning. So fast forward a few days. We start having sex again on Thursday - only penetrative (we also had sex Friday and Saturday- both oral and penetrative) and my partner now has the beginning of an infection again where she has to pee repeatedly and nothing comes out. No pain so far like last time but it only started a few hours ago.
What do you think is going on here? Could I be giving her a uti when I give her oral sex? Or more likely penetrative sex? Could she be giving me NGU with oral sex and then I am infecting her. It is very frustrating and would appreciate your insight. Her doctors in the past had said she probably has/gets cystitis easily since she is pre menopausal.

Welcome back to the forum. I am sorry to hear of your continued problems. My suspicion is that your sexual activity has caused minor irritation and possibly a UTI in your partner. Multiple studies have shown the relationship between recent sexual intercourse and urinary tract infections in women. For women voiding soon after intercourse helps to reduce these frequencies of infection. I hope this helps. If anything is unclear or their further questions please don’t hesitate to use your follow-up questions for clarification. EWH---

Thanks Dr. Hook. I went to the doctor today as I still need to urinate frequently and have some light lower abdominal pain that radiates to hip bone. They did a urine strip test and it showed I have a small infection. They are unsure from what exactly. I told them it couldn’t be gonorrhea or chlamydia as I tested negative for both a week after getting oral sex. I guess I may have gotten the infection from my partner. What do you think? She seems to have passed her second infection using cranberry pills.

Dr. Hook - went to the doctor per below. The doctor actually said the urine culture was negative (slight ph level) and also didnt have any discharge in it. They diagnosed me with prostatitis and medicine for 4 weeks. I guess my question is could I have gotten prostatitis from my partner who had a UTI or could I have given her the UTI because of prostatitis.

We have actually studied whether or not urinary frequency is a sign of STIs and found that not to be the case. OTOH, it is a reflection of anxiety.
There is a widespread misconception that prostatitis is an STI. In fact research suggests that this is rarely, if ever the case. If you have prostatitis, it is coincidental to your misstep and four weeks of therapy is the correct starting point for therapy. Unfortunately, because most antibiotics get into the prostate poorly, prostatitis can be difficult to treat. I hope all goes well. EWH

Thanks Dr. and last question. Sorry for all the clarification but just this incident has gotten the best of me and might just be bad timing.
1. I did have a negative urine PCR test for both Gonorrhea and Chlamydia at 6.5 days after the oral sex and waited 3.5 hours between urinating. Does this absolutely rule both of those out? Most testing sites say 6 days but the one I went through said 14 days. They did say it was a PCR test so I assume it would be the same test. Difference is I am in Europe. Should I take the test again?
2. I noticed again today a more clear sticky substance when I milked my penis when I woke up. I did have an erection for a good amount of time when I woke up. Is this probably precum. I dont see it the rest of the day even when I go 4-5 hours without urinating and try to milk it out.
3. When I was given a urine test (with the stick) at the doctor's office yesterday for a UTI, would it have picked up anything if I had an STD infection? I know it might not tell you what, but assuming their would show a presence of infection. The nurse told me there was a minor infection but the doctor said she was incorrect and no infection was indicated.
I am in Europe and not a native speaker so unsure if I am getting everything correctly from the doctors here.

I know you are worried about your partner's symptoms and the possibility that your misstep may have results in giving her an STI but I urge you not to overthink this. I think you are worrying more than you need to: In response to your final follow-up questions:
1. If you have been infected your results at 6.5 days would have been positive. Currently available PCR tests for gonorrhea and chlamydia are highly reliable are typically positive well before 3-4 days has passed. 6.5 day results are reliable. The 14 day estimate you saw was too conservative. No need for further testing.
2. I agree with your assessment. It is not unusual for men to have modest amounts of nocturnal discharge present, particularly if they have had erections over night. the nature of the fluid you describe does not raise concerns.
3. Urine dip stick tests are not the most sensitive means for detection of signs of inflammation (white blood cells). A urethral gram stain is a better test but when when combined with your negative PCR results are further evidence that you do not have an STI.
I hope my responses have been reassuring. I urge you not to worry further. As you know, this will be the final response as part of this thread which will be closed shortly. Take care. EWH
